My kitten was neutered. Is his healing normal? Why no litter box?

I would say he is a little bit in pain from the surgery and therefore waited to pee until now. Being jumpy is also normal, it is a sign of stress, as he was in an environment unfamiliar to him, he got injections and he woke up with pain. So he would feel apprehensive. Usually there is no problem with the litter coming into contact with a wound, it will likely not cause infection and you do not need to use a special litter. It depends on when your guy had surgery and if you mean urine/feces or both. If recent it could be anesthesia related as this can slow the gi tract down and/or he may be a little tired from the procedure/sedation. It could also be pain related. Do you notice anything abnormal about the neuter site (redness, swelling, discharge)? If he is eating and drinking normally then he will re establish normality soon. If he is not feeling well or you are worried about the surgery site it would be best to have him checked by your vet. Based on the photos you provided, I would recommend having the veterinarian take a look at this. This should be cleaned up with an antiseptic solution and potentially closed using stitches. I would get a soft paper collar at PetCo that you can tighten so he can’t remove it. If it’s been a day or two then go back to his normal litter. I don’t want to break his litter box training, and he could develop a urinary problem if he’s not going regularly. If the incisions are closed then the litter won’t be an issue. If not, you may want to contact your veterinarian to either get some pain medications or possibly refill some more. You may also want to schedule a recheck with your veterinarian to be sure the surgical site does not look infected. It is also normal for pets to experience abnormal behaviors for a few days after an anesthetic event - this may also be the case for Bunny. Hello. Most cats do very well after surgery, so as long as Haiku does not get too active tearing through the house, he can pretty much do his usual routine. There are no special requirements to aid in his healing other than to check the area for anything that looks unusual. He can clean the surgical area & will not harm anything. I would continue his pain medications at least for a day or so to make sure he has a normal recovery. If anything does concern you, contact your veterinarian immediately. For the litter, I would recommend using shredded paper to prevent any fine dust particles from getting into the incision. I hope this helps!
