My new kitten is comfortable but still won't eat. Should I worry?

Are you able to fre the same food that Bernard was on before you got him? Some kittens can have food preferences. It might also be the stress of moving to a new home that is causing the decrease in appetite. If he still isn’t eating anything in another day or two or if he seems really lethargic, I would have him examined by the vet.

Hello. I do not think you have too much to worry about just yet. There is always an adjustment period when a young pet comes into a new home, especially if the kitten was just taken from its mother & siblings. Give Milo a few days to adjust by allowing him to explore & become comfortable. Have him examined as soon as possible by your veterinarian to make sure he is healthy, has no intestinal parasites or external parasites like fleas or ear mites. He is old enough to start his kitten vaccinations, but I do recommend having him check for the feline leukemia/feline immunodeficiency virus at his first visit, too. Without knowing what you are offering him, it would be hard to say if it is an issue or not. If you are trying to feed hard or solid food, moistening it with water or a bit of kitten milk replacer and making a slurry may make it easier for Croissant to eat (and know what it is). Wet food can also be easier for a kitten to eat as they teeth. Warming up and moistened food may also make it more enticing. If Croissant continues to refuse to eat even with the changes, seems very lethargic, or is otherwise acting ill, seeking veterinary care in person ASAP is best.

Moving to a new home can be very scary for new pets. Bring Claymore the food and water and put them next to his hiding area (if he is under the bed, put the dishes under the bed). Also bring in his litter box close to the area. Giver him a few days to get use to things. Keep the environment calm and don't allow him to be hounded by other pets or children until he is more comfortable. Poor Dexter! That is concerning that he won't eat and has been sleeping all day. If the vomiting and diarrhea has stopped then you could try to get him to eat a small amount of a bland diet. Try a little bit of boiled chicken and see if he will eat that. You could also syringe a little bit of water into his mouth to see if he will drink. If the lethargy, decreased appetite, vomiting, and/or diarrhea continues then he needs to be examined by a vet to determine the cause and treat. He may need some fluids to prevent dehydration and an anti-vomiting medication. Hope he feels better soon!

What a cute kitten! Offering a meat flavored baby food may help entice him to eat. Warming his food may also allow him to smell it better which will help his appetite. Offer him small meals several times a day as his stomach is too small to eat a lot at one time at this age. Definitely have him rechecked by your veterinarian if he's not eating by tomorrow. I hope he's feeling better soon.

She looks like a healthy little kitten, so I think she's probably OK and just being picky. If possible, I would contact the former caregiver and see what they were feeding. Sometimes they reject food that they are not familiar with. If you've done that already, or it is not possible, then try to feed a few different foods. She is old enough that she can eat 100% kitten food, so you can buy a few different cans of food at the pet store. Fancy feast is always a favorite. Don't feed too much at one time though, or she could develop vomiting/diarrhea. They also stop eating sometimes when they are feeling sick. If you notice some eye or nose discharge, or anything else concerning, then you may need to get her to a vet for evaluation. I hope that helps.
