My new 2-month-old kitten isn't eating. Should I be concerned?

Heres croissant hes a Male almost 2 months old now the problem is hes not eating.... we have him for 3 days now still not eating he drinks water only if I put him in front of his bowl he will play for 5 to 15 min and immediately go to sleep for the next hours should I be worried about this..... I just want him to feel comfortable here also we had him from a lady who assured us the cat wouldn't need the milk from his mom anymore ...

Without knowing what you are offering him, it would be hard to say if it is an issue or not. If you are trying to feed hard or solid food, moistening it with water or a bit of kitten milk replacer and making a slurry may make it easier for Croissant to eat (and know what it is). Wet food can also be easier for a kitten to eat as they teeth. Warming up and moistened food may also make it more enticing.

If Croissant continues to refuse to eat even with the changes, seems very lethargic, or is otherwise acting ill, seeking veterinary care in person ASAP is best.

Monitor Cash very closely for any other signs of illness such as vomiting, loose stool, sleeping more or not playing as much. If you see anything else that looks like an illness, have him examined. If you notice that his appetite is continuing to decline, have him examined as well. Sometimes you can see the appetite have some minor variation. When in doubt, have him examined. However, it does not sound like he is eating the formula you have well. In this case, it will be fine to just offer him a kitten version. You can try adding warm water to the food. If the kitten is 4-6 weeks it should be fed solid food, not milk. You should try kitten wet food, warm it up before offering to the kitten. If kitten allows, you can hand-feed or even syringe feed. Please, remember that kittens at that age should be fed very small amounts every 2-3 hrs.

Have Candy examined by a veterinarian to diagnose illness. In the meantime, offer a good quality kitten food. You can warm it up or mix in a teaspoon of baby food to stimulate Candy's appetite. Discontinue offering milk as this may cause some gastrointestinal upset. If necessary, you can offer a kitten milk replacer such as KMR. This can be mixed into the food as well.

Are you able to fre the same food that Bernard was on before you got him? Some kittens can have food preferences. It might also be the stress of moving to a new home that is causing the decrease in appetite. If he still isn’t eating anything in another day or two or if he seems really lethargic, I would have him examined by the vet.

Your kitten needs to be seen by a vet immediately. Cats cannot go without eating for more than a few days without suffering liver damage. Your kitten is likely very dehydrated and weak and will need supportive care to help him survive. Right now, make sure he stays warm and mix some honey or corn syrup with warm water and very carefully use a syringe or dropper to get him to swallow some of this to help rehydrate him and give him some calories. Be very careful because it is easy to choke him when he is this weak.
