Kitten has bloody diarrhea, older cat is vomiting. Parasite?

Poor kitties. It sounds like these kitties likely have an intestinal bug causing their symptoms. I would visit your vet to have their stools tested first to determine what bug is present, and then they can get prescribed the appropriate dewormer. They may also need to do a short course of antibiotics to get the gut flora back to normal, especially if you are seeing them straining (colitis). I hope that your little ones feel better soon! It sounds as Pixie is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.

Small specks of red blood during a bout of diarrhea is not unusual as the delicate lining of the back passage can become damaged from straining. As long as he is bright and alert, eating and drinking it would be ok to leave him but if any lethargy, weakness or vomiting occurs he should be seen urgently by your vet. Be sure he is up to date with deworming medication as intestinal worms are a common cause of diarrhea in young kittens

Poor kitten! I think you're in the right for trying to get in sooner to have her checked out by your vet. If she is bleeding a lot or is having severe diarrhea or vomiting, then seeking out care from another vet or even an emergency clinic may be a good idea. Keeping her bottom clean and dry can help, and feeding a bland meal of some boiled chicken may help as well until you can be seen.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Nami! At 6 weeks old Nami should be on 100% kitten food. She no longer needs formula. It could be her diet or the formula causing the diarrhea. Other causes of diarrhea in a kitten are: intestinal parasites and viral or bacterial infections. The blood indicates inflammation in the colon and the blood tends to show up with severe diarrhea or diarrhea occurring for several days. If Nami is eating and no longer vomiting I would eliminate the formula and the food you think upset her stomach. If the diarrhea isn't better in 2 days then bring a stool sample and have her seen by a Vet. If she won't eat or vomits again she needs to be seen. I wish Nami the best!

Casper needs to be examined by the veterinarian. Bloody stool can be present for many reasons including parasites, bacterial over growth, improper diet, viral infection or poisoning. Bring in a fresh sample of the feces for parasite testing. The veterinarian may recommend an antibiotic, probiotic and a bland diet.
