Kitten has blood/mucus when wiping after pooping. Should I wait?

Small specks of red blood during a bout of diarrhea is not unusual as the delicate lining of the back passage can become damaged from straining. As long as he is bright and alert, eating and drinking it would be ok to leave him but if any lethargy, weakness or vomiting occurs he should be seen urgently by your vet. Be sure he is up to date with deworming medication as intestinal worms are a common cause of diarrhea in young kittens

It looks like Coco may have a small amount of rectal tissue prolapsed. This can occur if they have parasites, chronic diarrhea, foreign body or constipation. I recommend having her checked for intestinal parasites and possibly adding water to her food to help her pass stool more easily. If she is vomiting or showing any other signs of illness she should see a pet ASAP.

If he is eating, acting normal, not vomiting and does not have more bleeding, then he can be seen Monday. Otherwise, he will need to see an emergency veterinarian this weekend. Poor kitten! I think you're in the right for trying to get in sooner to have her checked out by your vet. If she is bleeding a lot or is having severe diarrhea or vomiting, then seeking out care from another vet or even an emergency clinic may be a good idea. Keeping her bottom clean and dry can help, and feeding a bland meal of some boiled chicken may help as well until you can be seen.

You can add a probiotic to the diet to help and this can be purchased at any pet store or vets office. The other recommendation would be to find a different food. Try to pick one with a different meat ingredient than what you are currently on to see if it is a food allergy

Oh, that looks like a fair amount of blood. It's concerning that he is passing clumps of mucus and blood, and is now refusing food. It's quite serious when a cat refuses food, as if they don't eat going on 72 hours, they develop a fatty liver which is fatal without treatment. Because I can't see him in person to say he will be ok, I think it's best he sees a vet now. Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies.
