My 11-day-old kitten has a bite. Is it infected? Should I see a vet?

This type of wounds must be considered always infected. A check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem. Disinfection may be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths. Poor kitten! I'm sorry that its leg is injured - since it has swelling, drainage, and a foul odor, it sounds like it's probably infected as well. Tiny kittens like this can actually be treated with antibiotics when needed, so I would definitely recommend having the baby checked by a vet as soon as you can. He/she can prescribe antibiotics for the infection if needed, or even advise on other options such as amputation if the damage is severe. It's not ideal to do things like this in very young babies, but it's certainly possible to do them when needed.

Oh my. Poor kitty. Because of the pus and infection, this kitty will need to be seen by your vet to get kitty on prescription antibiotics. I would recommend taking this kitty in to the vet asap. Poor kitten! I agree with you that this is concerning - in a tiny newborn kitten like this, a minor wound can cause internal injuries easily because they are so small and fragile. In addition, I would worry about this wound becoming infected and causing additional problems because of this. I would recommend taking the kitten to a veterinarian right away for an exam. Your vet can palpate the abdomen and may also take x-rays or do other testing if needed to determine if there are any serious problems. He/she can also prescribe an antibiotic to prevent infection of the wound.

The kitten needs medication, I recommend taking it to a veterinarian as it sounds like it needs antibiotics and possibly pain medication as well. Do not give any human medications as many are toxic to cats. Depending on exam findings, the vet may recommend xrays as well if they suspect significant trauma to the leg. I would recommend for your kitty to see the veterinarian. Infections tend to heal significantly faster and with less complications with antibiotics. You also will need to make sure he does not lick at the wound as this will make it worse. Have him wear an Elizabethan collar at all times and keep him indoors until it is healed. The picture doesn't look like a very serious wound to me. I would continue to watch it. If it starts bleeding, if the swelling gets larger, if there is a creamy yellow/white/green discharge, or if Venus is not eating well, she may need to see a vet for treatment.
