My 8-week-old kitten's lip is swollen after a fight. Is it serious?

The swelling could be caused by blunt trauma (for example if she run into something) or allergic reaction. If it is not bothering Kitty at all, is not itchy or painful when you touch it, I would leave it for another 2-3 days. Most of the mild swelling regardless on the cause should disappear within 5-7 days. If the swelling becomes itchy, painful or gets bigger, please take Kitty to your local vets for a check up.

Any lumps/bumps that you notice on your pet should be checked out by your vet. Lumps in this location can be any of these things: * abscess (infection) * cyst * cancer (benign or malignant) * rodent ulcer I suggest you find a vet to take him to for an examination. There are no home treatments for any of these possibilities. Also, treatment depends on what the lump is - all those possibilities have different treatments.

This could be the beginning of a condition also known as "rodent ulcer", it's basically an autoimmune reaction and it is not surprising if it starts to occur around pregnancy time. at the moment as long as it doesn't bother her and it doesn't become much larger, i would recommend just monitoring it, as treatment for this condition usually involve steroids which you can't give to a lactating mother.

Poor Stella. I'm concerned that the wound is red and swollen, which can indicate infection. For now, keep an eye on it and take her into the vet on Tuesday to have it treated. If you see pus, then it is definitely infected and try to get her into the vet sooner. I would just keep it clean, do not put anything on it at the moment. I hope this helps!

Yes a spider bite can cause a swelling. the swelling does not look very extensive so likely was not caused by one of the "nasty" spiders such as a black widow or a brown recluse. If your kitty, however, starts getting abdominal pain (rigid belly) or the swelling starts to change color, then a visit at the emergency room is the next step. If Maisey eats, drinks, lets you touch the swelling and otherwise does not act ill, then I think you have nothing to worry about and the swelling should go away within a day or so.

From the photos it looks like Xena has a "rodent ulcer" (aka: eosinophilic granuloma complex). Possible causes are: allergies, trauma from excessive grooming (rodent ulcer), allergic reaction, or from licking a caustic toxic substance. Without seeing a picture or examining Sage it is hard to tell you much more. Since cats can not tolerate human medications it is best to have Sage examined by a Vet today so she can be treated.
