Why is my kitten avoiding me after I tried to give her vitamins?

As long as they are eating a high quality diet made for kittens they do not need any extra vitamin supplements despite how much or how little they eat. If you want to give a vitamin you can but it needs to be one made for cats.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Many vitamins can be toxic to cats or kittens if given in the wrong dose. I would instead make sure the kitten is on a good quality kitten food or milk replacer if not nursing the mother.

Try warming his food slightly or mix in a teaspoon of baby food to stimulate his appetite. The Ecuvit is a vitamin supplement and should be safe to give, however it may be best to wait until Kiki is eating regularly as vitamins given on an empty stomach may cause gastrointestinal upset. If he is not eating after 2 days, have him rechecked by your veterinarian. Cats who do not eat for 2+ days are at serious risk of developing liver related complications.

I wouldn't advise on giving Calcium supplements to your kittens unless they have a known calcium deficiency, or you risk overdosing their system with Calcium, which can have adverse effects such as weakness, exercise intolerance, muscle wasting, listlessness, muscle twitching, and lethargy. It is best just to give your kitties a high quality kitten food, which has all the nutrients and supplements they need for an overall healthy diet. I hope this helps! While kittens can take vitamin supplements they shouldn’t need one if they have been fed a commercial diet. The most common cause of anemia in a kitten would be parasites or other infectious causes - I would recommend having your kittens examined by a vet who could identify the cause and prescribe medication.

If the kitten is not nursing from his mother I recommend bottle or tube feeding with kitten milk replacer. Tube feeding needs to be taught by your Vet. When a kitten stops nursing it likely means that they are sick. The best thing is to have the kitten examined by a Vet. He could have a genetic problem, something infectious or be constipated. Be sure you are stimulating him to defecate and urinate. I wish you the best.

Hello. It appears based on the label that you can give kittens 1 to 2 per day. That being said, if he is on a good, balanced diet he should not need a vitamin supplement. You can surely over-supplement a kitten and cause more harm than good. I would recommend a good balanced diet and no supplements.
