How do I keep my cat warm in winter if my house isn't heated?

I would definitely provide a heat source for them in the winter, especially if it is going to hit freezing temperatures. I worry about hypothermia if there is no heat source. I would also provide an insulated area for them. Small dog houses can be built quite easily and still be low cost. There are many templates online of how to build a dog house with insulation. Dog beds, blankets and another dog to keep warm with would help as well. If the temperature are too low outside, it is not advisable to keep them outdoors as this could result in hypothermia and even lead to death. I hope this helps! If it is cold for you, it is probably cold for her. Just make sure she has a way to get out of the cold by going into the garage or a warm spot outside. You could set up an insulated cat bed by cutting a hole in an ice chest (use google for other diy winter cat beds). You can also play with her throughout the day. Use various toys like a laser pointer, toys on a stick, feather toys, bell toys, etc. Playing in the snow is also a type of stimulation she may enjoy.

Cats are amazing resilient and generally will come home if they need additional shelter above and beyond what they can access when roaming. Providing an insulated outdoor shed/kennel/cat box can help should he return unknowingly

Many people will use a styrofoam cooler with a hole cut out to hold in the heat. Provide fresh food and water. Make the food a high quality such as Royal Canin, Purina ProPlan or Iams. Certainly you can have this cat vaccinated, treated for parasites and even spay/neutered. Outdoor cats can produce many kittens, they can also act as a source of fleas and intestinal worms, cats who are not fixed can also be more prone to fighting and getting injured. Many cities offer programs to help spay, neuter and vaccinate homeless cats and I recommend to look into one of these. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.

Hello. I would just make sure you limit any time Nova is outdoors & perhaps provide her with a heated pet bed when she in indoors. There are many available for cats on-line. You did a wonderful job healing her, so this would be a great way to keep her comfortable for the long winter months. A roof that does not leak and walls to protect against ran is needed. You will have to change the cedar chips out regularly and make sure to add a bed or blanket to snuggle in for extra warmth. Ideally on freezing nights you should bring him in and confine him to a garage or laundry room or bathroom if able

Great question! That is a fine temperature for Luna, and she should be comfortable. That is a temperature that is the lower end of the ideal temperature for a newborn baby's room, and since she have fur unlike a human baby, she will be just fine. If you are a bit concerned that she could be cold, you can get her a heated cat bed, or leave out some blankets for her to curl up in at night. She may even enjoy coming into your room to sleep with you at night! It's so lovely you are so concerned about her, and I hope this helps!
