When should I neuter my male cat? What's the ideal age to fix him?

Most cats can be fixed once they are over a certain weight rather than a certain age. Bringing him to your vet to be weighed and talking with your vet can let you know if he is large enough to be neutered. Your vet can also check for any remaining baby teeth in his mouth, as well as adult teeth that have come in to give you a closer estimate of his age. (It's hard to tell from your photo if those are still baby teeth or if they are adult teeth coming in, but this usually happens starting around 3-4 months of age, and finishes around 6-7 months.)

Male cats don't technically go into heat (that is more a female thing). They do however, become sexually mature around 6 months of age which means they are now interested in mating and can actually impregnate a female. Cats can be neutered as early as 8 weeks of age but most vets wait until at least 4 months of age. Yuki is definitely old enough to be neutered and based on his behavior you described I would do it soon. There is no male "heat" cycle so he can be neutered anytime now. Whether or not the vaccines should be done before or after is up to your vet. Some vets require the vaccines to be up to date before they will do surgery so ask your vet about that. Hope this helps. Hello. There really is no maximum age. He is likely starting to mature into an adult, so his appearance and behavior may start to change soon. If not neutered, his face will fatten, he may start marking with urine and may have some territorial aggression. Most neutered male cats will lick themselves while their penis is out. I would consider neutering him sooner, as long as he is 5 lbs I think it is fine to do before 6 months of age. Good luck!

You can neutered Pelly now. It's best to neuter him before he reaches sexual maturity, which can be any time after six months of age. There's not a benefit for a kitten to have the Royal Canin sterilized jelly food after neutering, it's better for older, more sedentary cats. You can mix in kitten wet food with his dry food to see if he will eat it, and have a health check done with the vet. I hope this helps!

Neutering the cat with one testicle descended should be no problem if you let the vet know ahead of time so the vet can plan extra time to find and extract the undescended testicle. It is usually not a big problem, however sometimes the veterinarian has to open the abdomen to remove the testicle if it is not located anywhere near the inguinal ring. Just removing the descended testicle and leaving the other one behind would not be acceptable practice.
