When to neuter my thin Persian kitten & help him gain weight?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Persian | Male | unneutered | 4 months and 22 days old | 4.85 lbs

Hi! May i know the best age to neuture my persian kitten? Is ther a benefit in giving royal canin sterilized jelly wet pouch after neuturing? Currently my kitten is on royal canin dry food but he is reluctant to eat it. He is very thin too. He is fond of meat and fish, but i dont give often. What should i do to gain his weight? Thanks!!

You can neutered Pelly now. It's best to neuter him before he reaches sexual maturity, which can be any time after six months of age. There's not a benefit for a kitten to have the Royal Canin sterilized jelly food after neutering, it's better for older, more sedentary cats. You can mix in kitten wet food with his dry food to see if he will eat it, and have a health check done with the vet. I hope this helps!
