Female cat in heat: Is squatting and peeing on bed spraying?

Unfortunately this could be related to her heat cycle (hormones), a bladder infection or a behavioral issue. Since she can’t talk and tell you what’s going on, I recommend to have her checked by the veterinarian for a bladder infection. You may also discuss having her spayed which will eliminate that factor as well. If the veterinarian suspect this is behavioral, there are many things you can do to help encourage her to use a litter box. Just post again. Hi! It sure sounds like a behavioral problem, as she is trying to put her scent over the dog's scents. Spaying her might help, but she may now be in the habit of urinating/defecating on these items. There is a technique called "litter box retraining", where you confine her to a small room, with just her litter box and no other soft surfaces to use as litter. Once she consistency uses the box, you slowly give her more and more freedom. Hope this helps! And, cats usually prefer, non scented, clumping litter, without a litter box roof.

Lola needs to be examined by the veterinarian. This is not normal. Also, cats don't generally have discharge when they are in heat. This leakage could be an infection and I recommend to have her examined today. I hope they figure out the cause quickly.

That must be so frustrating for you! I recommend taking her into your vet if you haven't already to rule out a medical cause behind this behavior. Cats with a UTI will urinate everywhere, and she will need antibiotics to treat it if she does have one. Once a medical cause is ruled out, I would recommend spaying her. Female cats will mark to attract a male, and spaying her will help decrease this behavior. Even if it is a UTI causing this, I would still recommend spaying her. She may continue to mark to attract a male, and spaying will have many health benefits for her, including prevention of a pyometra ( a life threatening infection of the uterus) in addition to decreasing the marking behavior.

If Luna is performing this behavior of raising her bottom into the air for short periods of time, this can occur when a cat is in heat/estrus. If she is always walking with this position, it is not normal and could be a sign of a musculoskeletal or neurological problems and she should be examined by a veterinarian. Most veterinarians highly recommend spaying cats that aren't being used for a planned breeding program. Spaying decreases the chance of a dangerous uterine infection called pyometra which requires emergency surgery to remedy, as well as removes possibliity of uterine or ovarian cancer, and can improve behavior issues such as urinary marking/accidents outside the litterbox.

I just adopted a cat who went throught a heat cycle so I know how frustrating this can be! Unfortunately Jynx is displaying common behavior for a cat in heat - she is leaving her scent everywhere so a mate can find her! For the short term, try to keep her to an area that is easy to clean (laundry or bathroom perhaps). Consider adding another litter box. The only long-term solution is to spay her.

Hello! That behavior does sound like classic in heat, or estrus, behavior for cats. If Bean bean is acting otherwise normally but overly affectionate and vocal, it is likely only due to her heat cycle. I do caution that keeping cats intact without breeding them can cause a serious uterine infection called pyometra. If Bean bean becomes lethargic, reclusive, uninterested in food, or showing any general signs of illness, such as vomiting or diarrhea, I would recommend taking her into a vet to be seen.
