My cat is in heat and peeing in bed. Why and how to stop it?

Nova is beautiful! Thanks for including a picture. Spraying can be either vertical or horizontal (especially in a female cat). Since the behavior is only occurring during her heat cycle that certainly suggests that Nova is spraying. However, I would recommend getting her spayed ASAP because sometimes such behavior will continue after spaying if it continues for a prolonged period of time. Good luck! I just adopted a cat who went throught a heat cycle so I know how frustrating this can be! Unfortunately Jynx is displaying common behavior for a cat in heat - she is leaving her scent everywhere so a mate can find her! For the short term, try to keep her to an area that is easy to clean (laundry or bathroom perhaps). Consider adding another litter box. The only long-term solution is to spay her.

Lola needs to be examined by the veterinarian. This is not normal. Also, cats don't generally have discharge when they are in heat. This leakage could be an infection and I recommend to have her examined today. I hope they figure out the cause quickly.

Hi! It sure sounds like a behavioral problem, as she is trying to put her scent over the dog's scents. Spaying her might help, but she may now be in the habit of urinating/defecating on these items. There is a technique called "litter box retraining", where you confine her to a small room, with just her litter box and no other soft surfaces to use as litter. Once she consistency uses the box, you slowly give her more and more freedom. Hope this helps! And, cats usually prefer, non scented, clumping litter, without a litter box roof.

I am not sure what a doona is but when a cat has inappropriate urination this can be caused by a few different things. She can have a urinary tract infection, it can be bladder stones, it can be stress related or it can be a systemic disease that is causing her to urinate more. She might have a health issue, such as a urinary tract infection, bladder stone, or an endocrine disease, or it may just be behavioral. If she’s coming into heat she will be acting differently. Lots of meowing, rolling around and acting wild. She may try to go out to get bred. If you don’t see that behavior I would check her all over to see if you can find a wound. I’m not overly concerned about this as long as it was only a few drops and it doesn’t continue.
