My young female cat isn't in heat. When will she be ready to breed?

It is recommended to wait until they are a little older before having their first litter. In my experience, young cats are not good mothers to their litter. I would wait until she is 18 months-2 years.

Beautiful cat! Unfortunately there is no way for me to give you any sort of idea on age or health just by looking at the photos. You would need a vet to do an exam in person. All I can say is that she definitely appears to be an adult (over 1 year of age). As for breeding, it is recommended that females not have a litter until at least 18 months of age although they technically can become pregnant and have a litter as young as 7-8 months old. They can continue to be become pregnant and have litters well into their early teens. Not recommended to do so but it is possible. Whether or not you should 'go for it" is entirely up to you. Some cats will have a silent heat but that is not really common. I would not be worried but if you are planning on breeding her then you should get her to a vet for a breeding soundness exam. They may want to do some testing to check her hormone levels or an abdominal ultrasound to "look" at her reproductive tract. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

Hello! Meribelle is just beautiful. Some cats take longer to go into heat than others, so it may be that she's a bit late. It could also be that she's had a silent heat. This is when a cat goes into heat, but does not display the usual signs of it. Given that you plan on getting her spayed, I would not be too concerned about it. I hope this helps!

Cats are polyestrus, meaning they go into heat multiple times a year. It's best to breed cats when they are at least one year of age. At this age, they will be physically and emotionally mature, and thus better able to properly take care of kittens. Cats have a very distinct behavior when they are ready to be bred. You will see Gg roll around on the ground and act more playful than usual. She will be more vocal, and will try to get outside more often to find males with which to mate. She will also stand arched with her tail straight up, and her back and rear legs stiffen when touched. When you see this behavior, she will be receptive to mating with a male. Heat periods in cats typically last 4-7 days, and will become longer and more frequent if she isn't bred. Cats become more sexually active during certain seasons, early spring and late autumn in the US. When Gg goes into heat, you can introduce her to a male cat.

Most cats would have gone into heat by this age but sometimes young females do not get pregnant until the age of 18 months. there could be various reasons for that but the most common reason is that many young female just won't cooperate with the males.

The estrous cycle in cats has 4 stages: proestrus, estrus, interestrus, and anestrus. It is only in the second stage that the female is receptive to the male. This stage, estrus, typically lasts 4-6 days (up to 10). If your female is still in the first stage (proestrus) or has already passed out of the second stage of the cycle into the third stage (interestrus) she will not r be receptive to the male. If mating is attempted to early or late in the cycle, the queen will refuse to mate and often aggressively reject the male. A queen should be at least 12 to 18 months of age before a mating is attempted. At this age, she is physically and emotionally mature enough to successfully rear kittens. Breeding your cat is not a decision to make lightly. Spaying prevents unwanted pregnancies and eliminates the problems of cystic ovaries, false pregnancies, uterine infection, and irregular heat cycles. Spaying also reduces the frequency of mammary tumors. Female cats do not need a litter of kittens to be happy psychologically. Reputable breeders have their queens and toms health screened and genetically tested for deleterious health problems. As a breeder, you become responsible for the health of the queen throughout her pregnancy and kittening. You should be prepared to find high quality homes for each of the kittens and to take them back at any time, even years later should the need arise. Only if you are prepared to make a lifetime commitment to teh queen and all of her kittens should you consider breeding your queen.
