My cat was declawed. Is Okocat litter safe during her healing?

I would not recommend applying Quadritop to her incisions - it contains a corticosteroid that could inhibit healing. You may want to try a compressed paper litter like Yesterday's News since the corn could still get stuck in her incisions even though she's not scratching in the box.

Use only shredded paper or a paper litter called “Yesterday’s News” for the 14 days after surgery. Crystal Litter may also be used, however if the paw is not wrapped or bandaged, I would stick with paper litter.

I would recommend using shredded paper in her litter box instead of sand or litter if she has infected toes. Do not apply topical medication. If she is licking her feet excessively she may need an e-collar or something to help prevent her from licking. I'm so sorry to hear about Quincy's traumatic event! I would try to avoid a typical clumping litter until his paws have healed a bit more, as the dust and tiny debris can get lodged into the wounds on his paws and make matters worse. Since he won't use the Yesterday's News, you can also try simply using shredded paper or another pelleted litter. If all else fails, you could also try putting old towels in the litter box that you don't mind discarding. I hope that Quincy makes a speedy recovery!

As far as I am aware only sawdust that is treated with certain chemicals would be carcinogenic when inhaled. I doubt that the OkoCat litter is a risk for your kitties, but if you are afraid that it might be, why not change to "normal clumping cat litter or the cat litter made from plant material (which is not clumping, I am afraid).

This litter type can be perfectly fine for your kittens as long as they don't consume any of it. Another option is to start by simply using shredded newspaper or a newspaper-blend litter, such as Yesterday's News. More traditional clumping litters are also okay to use.

You could try a corn or wheat based litter like World's Best Cat Litter or Swheat Scoop, or a wood litter like Okocat if you want to avoid clay litter. You could also try a clay based low dust litter like Dr. Elsey's. Even though she is used to pellets the transition to a clay litter could be fine - I'd start by putting out a litter box with the new litter while still keeping the old one and if she starts using the new one take the old one away.
