My pregnant cat can't clean herself. How to soothe raw area?

Ouch, poor Luna. I'd gently wash it with warm water and antiseptic soap. Keep the wound clean and dry, and monitor it for signs of infection. If you see redness, swelling, warmth to the touch, or pus, then it is infected and she will need to see the vet for antibiotics to treat it. Best of luck.

It is hard to see clearly the extent of this lesion as the photo is a bit blurry. It definitely looks like an infected skin lesion....whether it started as a ruptured abscess, a traumatic wound or other...I cannot say for sure. This should be seen by your veterinarian as soon as possible for proper treatment which should include a prescription antibiotic and wound cleaning. If it needs surgical debrisement, make sure the doctor is aware of the pregnancy. Hopefully it can just be cleaned without any sedation, but medication is going to be needed to treat the infection. There are numerous antibiotics that are safe for pregnant cats.

Neosporin is safe to use, however I don't know how much it will help. It doesn't have any anti-inflammatory properties and the skin looks severely inflamed. You might consider an animal-specific hydrocortisone cream or ointment, as this may be more soothing. Placing loose bandages might also provide comfort as she is trying to walk also.

Poor Luna! If she will let you, give her a bath with warm water and dawn dish soap. Keep her from licking the area, and in the morning, I would have her seen by a vet to have the area treated. I hope this helps!

That looks uncomfortable on Eclipse’s flank! It is likely infected and she likes needs antibiotics to get that to heal quickly. There could be many underlying causes such as fleas, mites, ringworm (which humans can get), possibility allergies or possiblely contact with some sort of chemical that causes a burn. Regardless, the doctor will prescribe medication for infection and likely to decrease inflammation. She should also wear an Elizabethan collar at all times as her licking will only make it worse. I am sorry for the delay in answering your question. I can’t say for sure what that is based on the picture, but I suspect she’s got an infection in the skin of that area. Keep it clean with warm clean water and you can use some dilute Betadine (iodine) once a day as well. If it’s not getting better, take her to a vet to be evaluated and to further advise you. I would not apply anything topical as the nursing kittens may swallow it or even refuse to nurse. An omega fatty acid supplement can act as a natural antiinflammatory and moisturiser and can help with skin repair and recovery. I also recommend you start to partially wean the kittens onto a semi solid kitten food to reduce the demands on Chichi also
