My cat has a face wound after a fight. How do I care for it?

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed | 2 years and 7 months old | 9.3 lbs

I currently have 4 cats, 2 males and 2 females. They are all very close in age and normally get along with each other. However, I got home from work today and noticed a pretty big chunk taken out of my one females face. I’m not sure if she got into a scuffle with one of the others .Shes acting normal and isn’t seeming to be in any pain. It also doesnt seem to show any blood or anything and as of now thats the only mark. Is there anything I should do for her or just leave it to heal on its own?

Ouch, poor Luna. I'd gently wash it with warm water and antiseptic soap. Keep the wound clean and dry, and monitor it for signs of infection. If you see redness, swelling, warmth to the touch, or pus, then it is infected and she will need to see the vet for antibiotics to treat it. Best of luck.

I would keep the wound clean and dry and keep an Elizabethan (cone) collar on Luna to keep her and your other cat from licking or pawing at it. Since cat bites can very easily become infected due to the saliva in their mouths, if it starts to look weepy at all or swells, seeking veterinary care ASAP to have the area cleaned and antibiotics started is best.

My cat has a smelly open head wound from a fight. What can I do?

Hello. If you have or can purchase a skin antiseptic, one with either 2% chlorhexidine or 1% povidine iodine, then you can gently clean this 2 times daily. Antibiotics would hasten healing, & if the wound is not looking better by early next week, I would consider a veterinary visit. But by keeping this clean, it will heal, & yes, this has the look of a typical cat bite abscess, so he did get into an argument with another cat. My cat has a red mark on her forehead. Is it from playing or serious?

This appears to be from an injury where something scraped her head. It's definitely something that could happen from playing or fighting with the other cat. The wound appears superficial (just on the top layer of skin) and it's a good sign that it's not swollen. It will likely form a few scabs, but is not expected to get worse. For now, it's best to keep the area clean with normal water once a day. If it appears to get worse, or is not improving after two weeks, then it's best to have a vet exam her. My 4-week-old kitten has a bleeding paw or injured claw. What to do?

It's hard to tell from the pictures exactly where the wound is and if it involves the claw itself. I would soak her paw in warm water (you can use a little epsom salts if you have it) to loosen the scab, then you can gently clean it with a warm wet washcloth. If you find that there is bleeding, then apply gently pressure for 15 minutes. Don't apply any topical medications as Luna will just lick them off. If the bleeding continues, or of the paw swells, or if there is a creamy or foul discharge, then she may need to go to the vet for examination and antibiotics.
