Why is my pregnant cat losing fur and oozing brownish liquid?

This looks like an ulcerated wound but I cannot tell how deep it is for those pictures. It could also be a site of a fungal infection as well. Cats that are nursing kittens should have noticeable mammary development and milk production so if that is not present you will need to bottle feed the kitten depending on its age. For the wound it should be kept clean and dry and Skunky should be prevented from licking it by wearing an ecollar. The hair around the site can further irritate it as well so usually wound care is needed. A veterinarian near to you can examine the site, determined if it needs to be closed or heal in its own and if any medications are needed. Cats are very sensitive to medications so do not give any human medications to her.

Poor girl. If the infection is localized to her skin, then there is a low chance of spread to the kittens. Also this infection does not look particularly infectious (able to spread to other people or animals). However, her skin looks necrotic (dying), and I would hihly recommend having this looked at again if there is no improvement within 2-3 days. First of all, in order to rule out skin parasites, you will need to treat with a high quality flea treatment, then ask the vet to perform a skin scrape - this might reveal an infection or a mite infestation. If all of those came back negative, the next step is to treat the allergy symptomatically and try to discover the cause of the allergy. Three main type of allergies are usually affecting pets: food allergies, flea and parasite related ones and environmental type (allergens coming from trees, pollens, dust etc etc). Babaloo could develop hair loss and the scabs for many reasons. It could be related to fleas, skin mites or an allergy. A bacterial infection is also possible. Unfortunately it is impossible to know the cause without a physical exam. I recommend to have her examined by the veterinarian. Extreme caution must be taken with medication administration because she is pregnant and this could harm the developing kittens. The doctor will be able to best advise the correct course of action once they know the cause. Feeding her a high-quality cat food such as Royal Canin may help with skin health in general but will not address an underlying cause. Best of luck.

I am sorry but I cannot tell by the picture exactly what that is. It could be a placental sac that has an infection. If you have not been to the vet to confirm pregnancy I would recommend doing that. It is a good idea to know how many kittens are present and also that mom is healthy and can deliver than normally. Kitty should be nesting an showing signs of constractions. Ususally you will see her sides contract. If you are not seeing this is unlikely she is in labor. However taking her to a vet would let you know for sure.

The hair loss may be hormone related or it could be from infection in the ear (bacterial, fungal or mites). This can result in itching which may have caused hair loss. You can place an e-collar (cone) on her to prevent further scratching and have her examined by your veterinarian. A swab of the ear can be examined in the clinic to diagnose ear infection. Afterwards, the appropriate treatment can be administered.

Hello, thank you for your question about Luna. In addition to Neosporin you could use a diaper cream on this area to help sooth the irritation. If Luna will allow it you can use a warm wash cloth to gently clean the area and remove debris. You can then apply the diaper cream. If the area continues to be irritated and red I would recommend having Luna seen by her veterinarian as this could lead to a skin infection that may require antibiotics. Hope this helps, good luck!
