Is cinnamon safe for cats to eat? What should I do if my cat ate it?

She may have injured the paw by stepping on a hot surface. As long as she isn't bothered by it and there is no sign of infection (swelling, discharge, foul odor), then I would just soak the paw in a warm water Epsom salt bath for 5-10 minutes to help reduce some of the inflammation. A small amount of plain oatmeal should not be harmful for Sally, as long as there are no added flavorings. Anything with artificial sweeteners or spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg should be avoided, as they can be toxic to cats.

I am sorry to hear about your concern for your kitty Ruth! It does not appear that Old Bay Seasoning has any ingredients that cause toxicity in cats and if she ingested just a few licks, it is not likely to cause her any issues, but I would monitor for vomiting/diarrhea/decreased appetite and contact your vet if these occur.

Flour is certainly safe for a cat to ingest - it is not something that would alarm me. However, cats are carnivores and are not very good at digesting plant material or grains. So, while flour is just fine as an additive in pet food (grains are often added as part of cat food to help keep it shelf stable), and I would not worry about a cat who licked some flour off the floor, I also would discourage you from intentionally feeding it to your cat, as it is not something they are good at digesting and provides minimal nutrition. Cantaloupe is not toxic to cats, and should be safe to give in occasional, small amounts. However, I would not recommend giving large quantities of cantaloupe regularly since cats are obligate carnivores and do not require fruit as a part of a balanced diet. Too much cantaloupe could lead to vomiting and/or diarrhea.

While you are correct that nutmeg is toxic to cats, a few grains of it will likely do her no harm. It would take a significant amount for it to cause toxic symptoms (tremors, seizures, other nervous system abnormalities), and given that the eggnog was diluted with milk in the cup plus it was diluted in the carton with milk, I would suspect she ingested a very small amount with two or three licks. In addition, there is typically about one teaspoon of nutmeg in a recipe that makes six to seven cups of eggnog, a very small amount. I suspect she will be fine :-)

Vitamin C itself is fine for a cat to have. The only concern is if the tablet has any artificial sugars, or odd chemicals in it. If it is just Vitamin C, then it is perfectly OK for her to have some.
