My cat has a red paw. Is it normal? Is cinnamon safe for my kittens?

You can try making an Epsom salts soak (directions for dilution with warm water are on the package), which will help to cleanse the toes, and hopefully give Maki some protection against infection - but she might not tolerate it well. You can also purchase an e-collar, which will keep her from licking, as this often causes secondary infection. You can show this to your parents - if the skin is truly peeled back, it's likely that Maki is quite painful (imagine how that would feel) and needs veterinary care in order to protect the area, prevent infection, and treat the pain. You might tell them that dealing with this now, rather than later, may be less expensive, as foot injuries can easily get complicated in cats, since they use a litter box, and infection is common.

Cinnamon should not harm your cat if ingested in small amounts but it is not a necessary part of a balanced diet. I would avoid giving her any cinnamon if you can. If she does happen to ingest a large amount you should call your veterinarian.

It's hard to tell from the pictures exactly where the wound is and if it involves the claw itself. I would soak her paw in warm water (you can use a little epsom salts if you have it) to loosen the scab, then you can gently clean it with a warm wet washcloth. If you find that there is bleeding, then apply gently pressure for 15 minutes. Don't apply any topical medications as Luna will just lick them off. It could be a normal color change, a bacterial or fungal skin infection, or from saliva staining from licking the area too much (allergies). Have your vet take a look at it to determine if there is anything abnormal that needs to be treated. If she doesn't seemed bothered by it and you don't see any swelling, redness, or discharge than it may just be normal.

What an adorable baby. I agree that she looks really young (about a week). Her paw pads don't look blistered at this time, but it is hard to tell from a picture. If she burned her paw pads, they will start to blister and peel. If that is the case, please seek care from a veterinarian. Check her paw pads a couple of times a day to make sure they look healthy. While a burn to his paw is possible I would also be concerned about an infection or even a bite/sting wound. Kitty Baby needs to get his paw checked out if possible as he may need antibiotics. If that is not possible I recommend he be kept indoors and you monitor the paw. Sometimes soaking the paw in a warm water or a warm compress is helpful. Do not give any human medications as they can be very toxic to cats.

No, please don't give your cat over the counter medications. Cats are extremely sensitive to them and you will not be able to get a dose small enough for a 1 pound cat. It is not recommended you give any medicines over the counter. If this was from an ingrown nail then he will need some antibiotics. It is likely infected which is why it is swollen. He really needs to see a vet for this issue. That way he can get the proper treatment. In the meantime you can soak the foot in an Epsom salt bath for 5 minutes 2-3 times per day.
