My cat licked nutmeg in eggnog. Will a small amount make her sick?

However, giving too much may cause vomiting / diarrhea which can lead to dehydration. What you are giving is likely not enough to cause vomiting / diarrhea and should be fine. I hope this helps! Cats can get their tails into anything, can't they?! If you wiped her down and removed all the whipped cream and pieces of pumpkin, she won't get sick at all. There would be nothing on her tail for her to ingest causing her to get sick. It would also take a sufficient quantity of nutmeg to make her sick, and there wouldn't be enough of it in a few pieces of pumpkin to cause that to happen. She should be fine :-)

I would not be overly worried about this. The small amount of nutmeg used in recipes is very unlikely to cause serious toxicity, though mild stomach upset could occur if a small amount is ingested. It's not likely that Oliver got a big enough dose to cause any signs of toxicity. Nutmeg toxicity is quite rare and is actually a rather mild toxicant. It has been reported to cause drooling, vomiting and behavior change (causes hallucinations in people) in dogs receiving two tablespoons or more. If Oliver has excessive vomiting and/or a drastic change in behavior, then it would be best to take him to the vet for treatment and monitoring. Otherwise, he should be fine to observe at home for the next 24 hours. If he is fine after 24 hours, then you'll know that he did not receive a toxic dose and should not have any problems related to the nutmeg. I hope that helps and all is well with Oliver.

You would need a relatively high amount of yeast to cause your cat a serious toxic effect, it is in fact the alcohol from the yeast that is problematic and can cause toxicity, if she just licked a little bit of yeast she is not likely to show any symptoms.

A small amount of lime juice should not cause any problems except potentially a little drooling/ gastrointestinal upset. It is usually the skin and oils from citrus fruit that can cause toxicity.
