My cat has a wound with pus and is losing fur. Does she need a vet?

That is a topical antibiotic and it is not the best one for this type of wound. She will need systemic antibiotics and anti-inflammatories/pain medication to get this to clear up. Yes. I would recommend to take her to the vet. The doctor will likely put her on antibiotics to try to clean up the infection. You also need to make sure that she is not licking at the area as this can make it worse. She should wear an Elizabethan collar at all times and be kept indoors completely until the wound is completely healed. Poor kitty. This looks like a really bad skin infection and could be due to an underlying flea allergy. Luckily veterinary hospitals are considered an essential business, so most are open even with the lockdown keeping other things closed. Your cat needs to see a vet to get this taken care of and also figure out what is causing him to limp? He will need at the very least antibiotics to help clear up this skin infection. Bite wounds (or even bad scratches) typically get infected and can form abscesses, which are pus-filled pockets under the skin. Bite wounds are typically worse under the surface than they initially appear from the outside. The yellowish-white piece of tissue that you mentioned looks like a piece of dead skin or fatty tissue that's protruding from the wound and is not a concern. That said, I can see a significant amount of inflammation and irritation around the puncture wound itself. If you haven't already taken Cheese to a vet, you should definitely do so. After your vet examines him, they'll be able to get a better sense of the severity of this wound. Some wounds require surgery to remove the dead tissue under the skin, but others simply require a course of antibiotics. Either way, it's better to start treatment sooner rather than later. This doesn't appear to be an emergency, but it's best to have her seen in the next day or two. For now, you can try the following: 1) Clip the hair around the area and expose all of the sore skin. 2) Wash/spray the area with just warm, clean water (no soap or other antiseptics) for at least 5 minutes at a time. Poor Church! It sounds like he is developing abscesses from some sort of trauma. We see this most commonly from cat bite or fight wounds. Usually these wounds heal best when treated by a veterinarian. We generally clean and flush out the purulent material and then start an antibiotic for 7-10 days. One concern I have remind cat owners about fight wounds in cats is that this is how feline leukemia and immunodeficiency viruses are spread from one cat to the next. I recommend testing your kitty and then trying to work on ways to keep Church indoors and less likely to be injured.
