My cat won't eat her wet food after a few days. Should I change flavors?

First, you'll want to make sure to do a gradual change over 7-9 days, slowly adding in more new food and less old food, otherwise Shiro can get an upset stomach which may be why she doesn't want to eat the new food. If the food is a dry food, you can wet it with a little water and warm it up in the microwave for 3-5 seconds. If the food is a wet food, you can just warm it up as it is. Cats are driven by smell, and so a smelly, warm food is likely to entice them to eat. If Shiro still doesn't want to eat the new food, I would return to the old food for a bit, and then try again (slowly). A vet visit to rule out any issues such as stomach upset, illness, etc, is also a good idea if you see any other problems.

Hello, sorry to hear about Lily. You may try a different brand of wet kitten food. You can also mix it with dry kitten food. Depending on how often you are feeding her she may also not be hungry. Kittens may have a fluctuating appetite that may be associated with growing and how active they are. As long as she is eating some food, and not having any vomiting, diarrhea or lethargy then she should be ok. If you note any of the above then have her evaluated soon.

It is not unusual for cats to at some point get bored of their diet just needing a change to continue to eat well. You may add canned tuna to the food which may increase her appetite. If she is generally fussy, I wouldn't be too concerned that she has stopped eating her wet food as long as she's eating her dry cat food. It's very important that she eats, and it may be that if you've given her a different flavor of Whiskas, she simply doesn't like it and doesn't want to eat it. If she does stop eating food altogether, then I would be worried and I would have her seen by a vet.

Rosie sounds like she's becoming a bit of a fussy lady in her old age :-) I wouldn't give her new food until she finishes the food she has on her plate. Giving her that will make her picky. It's fine for her to have more food, she just has to finish food on her plate first. I wouldn't leave the food sitting her in bowl for more than a couple of hours before tossing it. You can cover it and place it in the fridge to serve to her later. Just gently warm it up before giving it to Rosie.

Some cats prefer only one brand and flavour for many years, while others prefer variety and like to switch it up every so often. I do agree that getting your kitten used to different flavours and textures now is the key to preventing a picky eater. I can't tell you how many flavours you should start with, but know that you will eventually need to switch his kitten food over to an adult diet anyway, usually by about 1 year of age, so the type of food you feed will eventually change anyway.
