My 14-year-old cat has a watery, red eye. Should I go to the ER vet?

Young kittens often get conjunctivitis. It's not pink eye (meaning it's not contagious to you), but it may require medication from your veterinarian for clinical signs to resolve. It does not sound like an emergency, but I would schedule an appointment with your veterinarian within the next several days if clinical signs have not resolved or certainly if they worsen.

I see what you mean about Nyx's eye, it looks like the conjunctiva in the upper part of the eye is swollen and red. She could have injured her eye or may have an eye infection. Any eye problem is an emergency because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss, so yes I would take her into the ER vet now. I hope this helps.

This could be due to an eye injury or conditions such as a corneal laceration, corneal ulcer, conjunctivitis, dry eye (also known as KCS), among many other conditions. Poor Pip! Looks like he has a little abrasion there. It’s reasonable to put an e-collar on him and wait a few days to see if it starts looking better on its own. Since it is so close to the eye, there’s nothing over the counter that you can safely put on it at home, just keep it clean (water only) and dry and use a cone (ecollar) to keep him from rubbing at it. If it’s not looking better in 3-4 days, take him to the vet. If it starts looking worse, if he starts developing additional clinical signs, or if he starts having additional sores show up elsewhere, don’t wait, take him in. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Sabian! I am concerned about his eye and I suggest you take him to an open 24 hr Veterinary Emergency hospital. When it comes to eye issues it is best to have the pet seen sooner than later. Possible causes are: corneal ulcer, glaucoma, ruptured globe, severe conjunctivitis, tumor, or tooth root abscess. He needs to have the eye examined, stained for an ulcer and possibly the pressure measured with in the eye. He would nee a safe eye medication to be prescribed based on the cause of the swelling. Hi there and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! If Neptune's eye is red and he is pawing at his face or near his eye, it may be infected and bothering him. I would recommend Neptune see his veterinarian soon for an eye exam. Your veterinarian may want do a few tests of his eye to check for underlying conditions such as scratch on the cornea or other issues. He may go home with antibiotic drops for his eye or other medications as needed. I hope this helps!
