My cat has an irritated eye. Should I see an ER vet and quarantine?

I always lean toward being more careful with eye conditions. Even though you could likely wait 5 days, I would probably go to the emergency vet if it was my cat. And it is likely uncomfortable for Roxie, so I would like to get it treated. Eye conditions can become very severe very quickly, so I would have it evaluated sooner rather than later. I would suspect that he may have gotten into a fight with another animal outdoors, or he could have injured his eye. He can't keep his eye open because the eye is painful to light. He has to see a vet immediately. Any eye problem is considered an emergency because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Sabian! I am concerned about his eye and I suggest you take him to an open 24 hr Veterinary Emergency hospital. When it comes to eye issues it is best to have the pet seen sooner than later. Possible causes are: corneal ulcer, glaucoma, ruptured globe, severe conjunctivitis, tumor, or tooth root abscess. He needs to have the eye examined, stained for an ulcer and possibly the pressure measured with in the eye. He would nee a safe eye medication to be prescribed based on the cause of the swelling. Squinting the eye could be result of trauma (usually scratch from another cat) or infection. Please, keep wiping the eye and giving her soothing eye drops. If the eye is not back to normal after 5-6 days, you will have to try and get her seen by a vet.

Ori is such a handsome boy! Swelling and irritation of the eye can indicate an eye infection and/or an injury to the eye. He may be rubbing the eye because it hurts him. Unfortunately I cannot say without seeing him in person if the swelling will go down on it's own or not, and any eye problem is an emergency that requires an immediate vet visit. This is because the eye is such a delicate and important structure, and leaving problems untreated can lead to vision loss. In your picture, I can see that one is is smaller than the other, indicating the swelling. I recommend taking him into a vet asap to get this checked out. I hope this helps.

At his age either may be from a viral infection. The diarrhea can be change in food, stress or parasites based on what he has been treated for prior. If he is not vomiting and still has an appetite then you don’t need to see an Er at this point. However if you notice these changes or bloody diarrhea then I would get him seen sooner
