Why is my cat vomiting, not eating, and constipated after a move?

hi there 3 weeks back our cat started vomiting after he was shifted from our place to another once arrived to our place started vomiting and not eating then we admitted him to the clinic where they took an xray. Pictures are attached below..they couldn't find the problem he barely eats that also with alot of crunchy sounds and spills everything,likes being wet which he normally does not like,drinks water..urinates but does not excrete.He has not excreted for 5 days but urinates,Im very scared.

Hello, sorry to hear about Lucy. It sounds like he may be hungry since he is attempting to eat but has a hard time prehending and chewing his food. My concerns are that he could have something bothing his mouth which is preventing him from chewing his food. Alternatively, he could have something going on with his GI triact (inflammatory bowel disease vs parasites vs some form of obstruction from foreign material) or abnormalities assocaited with his liver, pancreas, or kidneys.

Becuase he is not improing, the next step would be to check some bloowork and an abdominal ultrasound. This would hopefully rule out the pressence of the foreign material and an obtruction which would require surgery and rule out any underlying liver disease.

Please have Lucy seen by his veterinarian today to further assess him. Hope this helps and best of luck.

I hate to hear this is happening to Murcis. Situations like this are tough because no test is pointing towards to cause for the illness. I recommend to speak with your veterinarian about a prokinetic drug to help rule out any ileus that gut may be experiencing. This may be temporary if it is related to an underlying condition or permanent it could be the cause of these symptoms. The ultrasound may have given some clues to the gut motility so ask about that as well. I also recommend to discuss a food trial with a hydrolyzed protein diet and possibly even a course of steroids in case this is inflammatory bowel disease. Why is my senior cat not eating, drinking, vomiting, and constipated?

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. It sounds like your kitty is very ill. I would recommend taking him to an emergency clinic (or his regular clinic tomorrow if an emergency clinic is not possible) for an exam and labwork. This could be something treatable (or at least manageable, if not curable) or it may not be. I would be worried about kidney disease, thyroid disease, diabetes, cancer, and liver disease - it could definitely be other things too, but these are at the top of my list. Hello, I do worry that Lucy may have retained placenta or a uterine infection that could be causing pain. I worry whenever cats become lethargic and stop eating. Why is my cat vomiting, not eating, straining, and has bloody poop?

This is a medical emergency, and Lucky needs to see a vet immediately. He could be suffering from a foreign body, GI polyps, or GI tumors causing him to vomiting, not be able to poop, and not eat or drink. He needs veterinary treatment now. I would see if there is an ER vet clinic in your area. If there isn't, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website. Please take him into a vet immediately.

My 9-month-old cat is vomiting bile and not eating. Should I worry?

I'm sorry to hear that Louie isn't feeling well! Profuse vomiting and a loss of appetite in a young cat are most suspicious for either a foreign body intestinal obstruction, parasites or virus. Due to the likelihood of dehydration with this much vomiting and possible obstruction, I recommend taking Louie to his vet fairly urgently for evaluation. He will likely need abdominal x-rays and may need IV fluids or surgery if foreign material is suspected in his intestines. I hope that all goes well!

Why is my old cat constipated and vomiting? What should I do?

Cats should have a bowel movement roughly twice a day. When they don't, that generally means there is a problem. Sometimes this can be a sign of an inappropriate diet, not enough water intake, a neurological issue or a tumor blocking the intestines. Since she is older and it sounds like it's been a year, I recommend to start with a veterinary visit. Bring in a fresh sample of stool so the vet can check it. Make sure to speak with the veterinarian about food options as well. Increasing the amount of fiber in the diet can often help as can feeding a canned food with additional water added. There is also a special prescription diet made by Royal Canin called Fiber Response that many cats respond well to. Older cats often need more care (just like older humans) so have her examined within the next day or so. I hope this helps.
