Why is my cat vomiting, not eating, straining, and has bloody poop?

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | neutered | 5 lbs

Our cat is puking white foam not eating, and looks to have blood on it's rectum. He is not eating or drinking and is walking around the house trying to shit. With one small poop

This is a medical emergency, and Lucky needs to see a vet immediately. He could be suffering from a foreign body, GI polyps, or GI tumors causing him to vomiting, not be able to poop, and not eat or drink. He needs veterinary treatment now. I would see if there is an ER vet clinic in your area. If there isn't, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website. Please take him into a vet immediately.

When cats have vomiting back to back they can get esophagitis (inflamed esophagus) and gastritis (inflamed stomach). Also another possible cause is a stomach ulcer. Due to the blood there I would highly recommend getting Pumpkin to your vet for a good examination to make sure he is stable and there are no serious underlying causes for the vomiting (i.e. intestinal obstruction), and medications to stop the vomiting and avoid further irritation of the GI tract. She may also need further treatment depending on what is found. I hope he feels better soon!
You can offer small amounts of Pedialyte (non-flavored) and a bland diet of tuna and rice until you can get him seen by your vet, to help settle his stomach and prevent dehydration.

Poor Jeeves! I would take him into a vet as soon as possible. He has vomited a lot in a relatively short period of time, which could be caused by pancreatitis, severe GI illness, or a foreign body. The vet will do a physical exam, routine blood tests, a urinalysis, and possibly x-rays to diagnose what is causing the vomiting so he can be treated. I would remove his food, but continue to allow him access to water. Please take him into a vet now if you can.

It sounds as Squash is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him back to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.if the vet thinks it is more serious he will need a blood test and possibly an ultrasound in order to find out what is wrong.

Please find a veterinarian tonight, (even a large animal vet will help) to give fluids, take pain and give at least supportive treatment or euthanize your cat if she is very badly hurt. I am so sorry your cat is so ill.

Poor Sebastian! While this vomiting could be caused by his food, if he's been on it a while, then it's more likely caused by something else. Vomiting and blood in the stool can be caused by a severe GI illness, a foreign body, severe intestinal parasite infection, GI ulcers, or exposure to toxins. Because blood in the stool is not normal and can be caused by serious illness, it would be best that he is taken into a vet now for an exam. The vet can diagnose what is causing the vomiting and bloody stool, and can treat him for it.

These are very concerning signs - bleeding from the mouth can be a sign of a serious illness such as heart disease, severe liver or kidney disease, a clotting disorder, or severe dental problems. Combined with the fact that he is just laying down and pooping without realizing it, I would be very worried that he has a serious, life-threatening problem as this is extremely abnormal in cats - it often indicates that they are so weak and sick that they don't notice or care that they are soiling themselves. I would recommend getting your kitty to an emergency vet right away - he/she can do a thorough oral exam, and may also need to do blood work and x-rays to help diagnose the problem and see what can be done to help him.

Why is my senior cat vomiting and pooping blood with liquid?

Poor guy. He sounds ill indeed. Many disease processes can cause loose bloody stool including: intestinal parasites, pancreatitis, inflammatory bowel disease, lymphoma (cancer of the intestines), dietary indiscretion (eating something he shouldn't have), and even a bacterial infection. The first step would be to do a full panel bloodwork analysis, fecal exam and urinalysis done on Oliver. This should be ble to narrow things down quite a bit so that your vet can know what Oliver needs treatment wise. I would suggest scheduling an appt for him soon at your local vet. I hope that your pet Oliver is able to recover from his bloody stool and illness. Best wishes and take care.

Hello. Vomiting and blood in the feaces could be signs of a mild gastritis, or could be much more severe. If the poop was very big and hard, then the vomiting could be secondary to Wally being constipated. If the poop was soft and liquid then he could have a gastritis. If he is eating/drinking well, and just had one episode and is back to normal, you can monitor him for now, but if he is lethargic, still vomiting, and if the blood gets worse or continues, then I would bring him to a vet. Why is my cat vomiting, has diarrhea, and bloody stool but is active?

There are many things that could cause his symptoms. Unfortunately they are non-specific and could be a symptoms of almost anything. Bleeding from the anus frequently signifies a serious disorder. Possible causes of bleeding from the anus can include polyps or tumors of the colon or anus, abscess or infection of the anal gland, constipation, blood clotting disorders, autoimmune disease or even certain types of poisoning. Any chance he ate a toxic plant or was exposed to any toxins? Intestinal parasites are another possibility. Whipworms are intestinal parasites. They are about 1/4-inch long and live in the cecum and colon of the cat, where they cause severe irritation to the lining of those organs. This results in watery, bloody diarrhea. They can also have weight loss and general debilitation. Whipworms are one of the most pathogenic (harmful) worms found in cats. Has a fecal sample been tested? Whipworms can also cause vomiting. Any chance the blood is dripping from his penis and not the anus? In younger cats a common cause of bloody urine is the presence of crystals in urine (crystalluria). When left undiagnosed and untreated, these crystals can lead to blockage of the urethra in some male cats. Has a urinalysis been done? This is the best I can tell you at this time.
