My cat throws up often. Should I try Iams sensitive stomach food?

You can try keeping him on a sensitive stomach food such as Iams limited ingredient, Fromm, or Purina sensitive stomach. However, it sounds like Keeko may have a inflammatory bowel disease and really the prescription diets have more reliable results. Also I would keep in mind that sudden switches from one food to the next can cause upset stomach issues in and of themselves. It is recommend to do a slow transition over the course of 7-10 days whenever you are making a food change. This is just 1 test to run so this should be something you could feasible do to at least get him started on something more reliable and effective. If the vomiting does not improve within a few weeks of being on the food, or if he develops any more symptoms, then he should be worked up further (i.e. abdominal x-rays). You can change her food to a hypoallergenic or sensitive stomach formula such as science diet I/D. These are very bland and easy to digest. You can also get probiotics for cats to add to the food to help Sometimes vomiting can be from an infection, cancer or inflammatory bowel. Your vet can start testing for these thing if the above doesn’t help

I wouldn't expect pumpkin puree to make Lio vomit occasionally, unless he's eating his food too fast or is eating too much. He could also have a GI illness, hairballs, may have eaten something rotten, or intestinal parasites among other causes leading him to vomit. I would Lio seen by a vet for this to make sure there isn't a medical cause behind his occasional vomiting.

Hill's Science Diet and Purina are also good food. I would try a sensitive stomach formula in Royal Canin first then switch brands. Be sure to keep in mind that a food allergy is just once cause of vomiting. Other causes are: intestinal parasites, viral or bacterial infections, hair balls, foreign body, dietary indiscretion, pancreatitis, toxin ingestion or inflammatory bowel disease. Cats, unlike dogs can eat only meat and be fine, as they are obligate carnivores. Dogs can actually be fed a vegetarian diet but cats cannot. If she was doing well on the previous food then transition her back if you want, or you can give her a little more time to get used to the new diet. You could even transition her to a completely canned diet. If you changed her abruptly from one to the other, that could be what started her problems, especially if she has a sensitive stomach. Since she's eating fine I don't think you need to rush her to the vet just yet, as long as she seems well otherwise. Decide what food you want to feed her long-term and transition her slowly from her current diet by offering her some of each dry food in two separate bowls for a few days. Then put 75% old food/25% new food in the bowl together for a few days. Then go to 50%/50%, then 25%/75%, taking a few days each time. Gradually reduce the amount of old food until she is completely fed the new dry food. If she gets an upset stomach, you can back up a step and hold there until she feels better. If she loses her appetite, starts vomiting, becomes lethargic, then do get her in to see your vet as soon as you can.

Yes, I really am a veterinarian! It certainly is possible that Meow Moo is suffering from IBS if he has tummy pain that comes and goes. If he did have it, you would also be seeing chronic diarrhea. Given that the vet has examined him and he's in good health, then the vet may not be worried about IBS especially if he's not having chronic diarrhea. If he was a stray before, his stomach pain could be due to the diet he is on. Some diets don't agree with a cat's system, and I would recommend feeding him a high quality food such as Royal Canin, Hill's Science diet, Purina ProPlan, or Iams. Make the food switch over to avoid any further GI problems. If he's having stomach pain now, try feeding him a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in a high quality diet like the one I mentioned above. Should the stomach pain continue, then I'd recommend bringing Meow Moo back into the vet for further testing such as blood tests, urinalysis, and possibly x-rays and ultrasound. I hope this helps!
