My cat threw up and heart raced after fast anesthesia. Is this normal?

Hello, sorry to hear about Marie. The nausea and vomiting could be associated with the anesthesia or any other medications she is currently on including any antibiotics or pain medications. Sometimes there can be vomiting after a procedure due to mild stomach/esophagus irritation. If so the vomiting should stop soon. I would call the veterinarian that due the dental to make sure they dont want to recheck Maeby. In the meantime you can continue with Maeby's normal food as it is unlikely to be the cause of her vomiting.

While I am unclear what you are specifically referring to in terms of his behavior, it is fairly common for cats and dogs to feel differently and show signs such as lethargy and sedation for 24-36 hours following anesthesia. Hi, As long as your cat is otherwise acting normally monitor the sneezing. If the sneezing frequency increases or the cat sowing other signs such as reduced activity, reduced appetite, discharge from nose then take him to be examined by your vet. Also monitor the environment for any changes in common irritants that can effect cats and cause sneezing including cigarette smoke, household cleaners, changes in cat litter etc.

I am so sorry for the delay in answering your question. I hope that HIro is feeling better now. It can take a few days for them to be back to normal following anesthesia. Since he is eating now, I suspect he may be coming around back to normal in the next few days. If you are still concerned about him, take him back to your vet to discuss your concerns. Regarding your specific question "Can anesthesia though muscle cause problems or death days after?" Whether anesthesia is given in the muscle, in the vein, or via inhalant (gas), it can cause cardiovascular changes that may manifest in illness days after; for instance if they had some pre-existing kidney insufficiency, its possible that deceased blood pressure while under anesthesia may further damage the kidneys to cause kidney failure. While I suppose it is possible that there could be decreased blood flow to the brain that could cause a change in their personality, this certainly isn't something we recognize occurring, I think in terms of frequency of that happening I would say its very rare. The medications Tapatipo was given to sedate him may be causing the vomiting, but since I don't know what medication he was given, I can't say for certain. Certain anesthetic drugs can cause vomiting. I am concerned that he is vomiting but yet still appears to be sedated, and my worry is that he could aspirate on his vomit. To be safe, I would take him into a vet immediately to be checked out. Best of luck.
