Is cat vomiting normal after neuter surgery with a heart murmur?

Is he still on the antibiotics? If so maybe you could call and request a different medication? If he is no longer taking the medication and he is still vomiting then she should have a follow up appointment. It is possible that it is just coincidental with the neutering and he could have a foreign body in his stomach, or a parasite causing him to vomit. They may want to do an x-ray and/or some blood work. Best of luck and I hope he improves soon.

I am sorry Miso is not feeling well. I would recommend taking Miso to the vet for a good exam, It is possible that Miso has gotten sick and it is not related to the neuter. Some cats can be sensitive to certain medications but can also get viral disease that can cause vomiting and anorexic. IT is best to have his temperature taken and a good exam to help determine why he is sick and proper treatment. I hope that helps

No, this isn't normal, and I can give you a home remedy for Smoke to see if that helps. I recommend withholding food for 6 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, he vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away. If the vomiting has been occurring for months, I would advise that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian. There are many causes of vomiting including worms/parasites in the intestines, dietary indiscretion (eating things he is not supposed to eat), dietary intolerance/sensitivity, hairballs, infection/inflammation, foreign bodies, hairballs, problems with internal organs, etc. Your veterinarian can assess Frankie and then formulate a diagnostic plan which might include physical exam, intestinal worm exam, blood tests, and possibly some imaging studies like x-ray, ultrasound, or endoscopy (a special scope with a camera on it). Once a diagnosis is made a treatment plan can be made. I hope Frankie gets better soon.

I would keep him in a warm, secluded spot and do not feed him for 6 hours. Then only feed 1/2 his normal food. He should be normal and be fed his normal volume at the 24 hour mark. It is possible the hairball caused the vomiting and some digestive upset. I would continue to monitor Snaer, and see how he does over time and if his appetite returns. If he doesn't return to normal within 24 hours, vomits more, stops eating, or seems painful in his abdomen, bringing him back to your vet for more care is best. You can also try a bland meal or two of plain, boiled chicken (or a little added to his regular food) to help settle his stomach and entice him to eat.

Hi, and thanks for your question. That could be completely normal after the procedure and anesthesia. I would suggest to withhold food for the next 8-12 hours and then start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice diarrhoea, more vomiting, lethargy or inappetence.
