Cat throwing up clear fluid 2 days after anesthesia. Is it normal?

Sometimes there can be vomiting after a procedure due to mild stomach/esophagus irritation. If so the vomiting should stop soon. I would call the veterinarian that due the dental to make sure they dont want to recheck Maeby. In the meantime you can continue with Maeby's normal food as it is unlikely to be the cause of her vomiting.

It all depends on the type of anesthesia. Once the drugs do kick in, it tends to be fast (many medications do slow the heart rate) and some pet' may vomit in response to the medication. I recommend to ask this question to your veterinarian who knows what medications the used on Si and will be better able to answer if this was a normal response or not. I hope this helps.

While I am unclear what you are specifically referring to in terms of his behavior, it is fairly common for cats and dogs to feel differently and show signs such as lethargy and sedation for 24-36 hours following anesthesia. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Felix! If he was just neutered he likely vomited from the anesthetic drugs. I would keep him in a warm, secluded spot and do not feed him for 6 hours. Then only feed 1/2 his normal food. He should be normal and be fed his normal volume at the 24 hour mark. Is he still on the antibiotics? If so maybe you could call and request a different medication? If he is no longer taking the medication and he is still vomiting then she should have a follow up appointment. It is possible that it is just coincidental with the neutering and he could have a foreign body in his stomach, or a parasite causing him to vomit. They may want to do an x-ray and/or some blood work. Best of luck and I hope he improves soon.

It can be normal to vomit once or twice in the 24 hours following anesthesia but I wouldn't expect Sadie to be experiencing side effects from anesthesia at this point. I would recommend having your veterinarian examine her if the vomiting and decreased appetite continue: it may or may not be related to her recent surgery. If she is on a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory pain medication like carprofen or meloxicam it would be best to discontinue the medication since these can sometimes cause stomach upset - your vet can prescribe a different pain medication if necessary.

Poor pup - some dogs do get nauseous after anesthesia or sedation, just like people. I would withhold food this evening to help settle his stomach and offer some plain boiled chicken and white rice tomorrow morning. If he's still vomiting or acting lethargic by then, I would recommend calling your vet to let them know - they may want him to come back in for a recheck to make sure everything is okay.
