My cat is vomiting frequently days after neutering, what should I do?

It is possible the hairball caused the vomiting and some digestive upset. I would continue to monitor Snaer, and see how he does over time and if his appetite returns. If he doesn't return to normal within 24 hours, vomits more, stops eating, or seems painful in his abdomen, bringing him back to your vet for more care is best. You can also try a bland meal or two of plain, boiled chicken (or a little added to his regular food) to help settle his stomach and entice him to eat.

Is he still on the antibiotics? If so maybe you could call and request a different medication? If he is no longer taking the medication and he is still vomiting then she should have a follow up appointment. It is possible that it is just coincidental with the neutering and he could have a foreign body in his stomach, or a parasite causing him to vomit. They may want to do an x-ray and/or some blood work. Best of luck and I hope he improves soon.

It is possible that he could have had a reaction to the anesthesia or just the stress of being neutered. Or it could be completely coincidental and it could be secondary to something else like parasites, foreign body, a sudden change in food, pancreatitis, an underlying infection, and much more. I would try to feed him some plain boiled boneless and skinless chicken and white rice. I would also try to start him on some probiotics. Your vet should be able to provide these or give you some recommendations. You can try some plain sugar free yogurt but the probiotics in this isn't as good as the cat probiotics because we have different bacteria in our gut than in cats. The next step should be to have him re-examined and likely have some bloodwork done. I would also make sure the vet has ruled out an parasites including giardia which is difficult to find on a regular fecal test. If your vet doesn't think there is a foreign body, they will be able to provide him with a good anti-nausea medicine to help with the vomiting. I hope this helps!

Hi, and thanks for your question. That could be completely normal after the procedure and anesthesia. I would suggest to withhold food for the next 8-12 hours and then start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice diarrhoea, more vomiting, lethargy or inappetence. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Felix! If he was just neutered he likely vomited from the anesthetic drugs. I would keep him in a warm, secluded spot and do not feed him for 6 hours. Then only feed 1/2 his normal food. He should be normal and be fed his normal volume at the 24 hour mark. I am sorry Miso is not feeling well. I would recommend taking Miso to the vet for a good exam, It is possible that Miso has gotten sick and it is not related to the neuter. Some cats can be sensitive to certain medications but can also get viral disease that can cause vomiting and anorexic. IT is best to have his temperature taken and a good exam to help determine why he is sick and proper treatment. I hope that helps

Poor Leo. It sounds like he could have some diarrhea. I recommend that you feed him a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the diarrhea continues on the bland diet, he starts vomiting food, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away. I hope this helps.
