My cat on UTI meds still straining to pee. Should I go back to vet?

This could be due to an infection that is resistant to the antibiotics being given or it could be something else like stones or a tumor. I highly recommend that you consider taking Tao to his veterinarian for reevaluation. Diagnostics that should be considered at this point include a urine culture to make sure that if there is an infection, you know which antibiotic would be best to use. I would recommend a urinalysis to make sure the urinary tract infection is completely gone. I would even recommend a urine culture (although can be expensive) it will be a definitive answer. The culture will tell you what type of bacteria and what antibiotics are best. With regards to the stool, I would recheck a stool sample, put Chance on a bland diet and god from there. Assuming that you perhaps were referring to a urinary tract infection, your veterinarian may choose to do a longer course of the antibiotics or proceed with a culture to treat according to the culture results. Loss of appetite can be observed with many conditions such as gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, kidney disease, pancreatitis, among many other possibilities. I am more concerned about the fact that she is not eating well and that needs to be further addressed as it is unlikely to be due to a urinary tract infection. I recommend that you have Luchadora reevaluated by your veterinarian on Saturday for further assessment and treatment. Keep in mind that if she is not feeling well, they may not proceed with vaccines that day. You may take in a urine sample that day. I cannot tell you for certain whether the spraying is associated with the current urinary issue or if it is a behavioral issue. If I had to guess, I would say it is likely related to his current medical situation. You need to talk to your vet about this as they have all his medical information that I do not have. I'm also assuming he has bladder crystals and not stones? If he has stones then he would need surgery to remove them and that may be why the urinary is bloody. You need to clarify that with your vet. The most common cause for a female to straing to urinate and only produce small amounts is a urinary tract infections, bladder stones, crystals in the urine or bladder inflammation. UTIs are from bacterial infections which are treated with antibiotics. Your Vet would have to prescribe the medications. She should be seen by your Vet and have her urine tested. Thanks for visiting Petcoach. Poor kitty. I have to agree here, that if there is still gross blood in the urine, then additional testing is needed. I would highly recommend starting with a radiograph to check for urinary stones. However, a more inclusive test that is more cost effective, would be to do an ultrasound. Yes an ultrasound is more expensive than a radiograph, but if you still dont find an answer with the radiograph, an ultrasound would be needed. The ultrasound can not only tell us if there are urinary bladder stones, but it can look at the urinary bladder in 2D to determine if there are any structural abnormalities or growths inside the bladder. It is the best way to go here, especially after trying to treat this medically twice now. To help with finances though, I would suggest trying out for CareCredit.
