My cat's swollen, bleeding, not eating. Is it a vet emergency?

OH my. I am not sure where she is bleeding from, but a coagulation disorder or bleeding disorder is likely the cause of her illness. A toxin ingestion or immune mediated condition is typically the cause for bleeding disorders in pets. I would highly recommend taking Miaw in to your local vet right away for treatment! She is in need of medical attention right away to hopefully stabilize her condition quickly. A blood test will likely be recommended to gather more clues as to the underlying cause for her bleeding problem and inappetence. I'm concerned that Deku could have a pyometra. This is an infection of the uterus, and it is fatal without treatment. She has to see a vet now. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website.

If his stomach seems significantly bloated it could be a sign of ascites or fluid in the abdomen. I think it would be best to see a vetas soon as you can and an emergency visit might be the best option. They may recommend blood work and x-rays after a physical exam.

She may not be eating because she is uncomfortable or has a fever. I recommend that Julie sees a Veterinarian. They may check her urine for infection or crystals. If she is older they may want to run blood work. They also may want to take an X-ray to check for a bladder stone. If it is a urinary tract infection she needs antibiotics. If it is crystals in the urine then we usually change the diet. If bladder stones, ideally surgery is recommended. I hope this helps and I wish Julie a speedy recovery!

Poor kitty! I totally understand your concerns here, as I too am deeply concerned about this cats current condition. These symptoms suggest this cat may have a severe urinary tract infection or even a bleeding abnormality, if you are seeing blood coming from the vaginal area. A uterine infection (pyometra) is also possible here which can be life threatening if not treated medically. This cat needs to be taken to a vet hospital right away for treatment, because this is beyond what you can do for this kitty at home. They need to run some diagnostics on this cat, which will likely be bloodwork +/- abdominal radiographs and likely a urine test if a bladder infection is suspected after a complete physical exam is done. Please take kitty in to your local vet right away for further care before her condition gets any worse. If you can't get her in right away then offer kitty some low sodium chicken or beef broth and small amounts of non-flavored Pedialyte diluted with water using a syringe or small turkey baster. Hi, it does sound like Chibi is having troubles passing urine. In terms of what you need to do, he needs to be seen by a vet his condition is classed as an emergency. The fact he can't urinate properly but just droplets and that he has retched and refused to eat, can indicate that the inability of pass urine is causing all the waste products to be reabsorbed in his blood. As time goes by he will progressively get worse, so I recommend you try to get hold of your vet explaining you think it is an emergency and 24 hours is too long to wait. Apart from offering water, he needs to have some treatment for urethral obstruction, there is nothing you can do at home apart from keeping him indoors, try to avoid unnecessary stress, make sure he is in a cool room.. and most importantly try to find a vet. If you have any antinflammatories, stop them for the time being as we think he might not be able to urinate and can make his kidneys worse as well as causing Gastro-intestinal issues.

This sounds like she may be in labour if she has not been neutered and requires urgent veterinary attention at this stage - an emergency c-section may be required. Other possibilities may be severe infection or prolapse which would also require treatment urgently before major blod loss
