My cat is peeing blood and not eating. Is this an emergency?

  I would say that your cat needs further diagnostics at this point. A urine sample is definitely indicated but why doe she keep having recurrent cystitis? Abdominal x-rays may reveal bladder stones. If not, she may require an ultrasound to look for abnormalities of the bladder. For now she should be on a strictly wet, prescription urinary diet and her urine shoulds be sampled for urinalysis plus culture. She needs pain medication alongside her anti-inflammatory and to monitor her urination habits very carefully. Try to reduce stress in the home and encourage more drinking.

  Thank you for using PetCoach. I would recommend taking Zoe back to the veterinarian to be rechecked. Sometimes stress can cause blood in the urine as well, so if they’ve been traveling with you that could be part of the cost. But she does need to be reevaluated. If she is eating drinking and otherwise acting normally, you can probably wait till you get home to take her to the vet. But if she is acting painful, hiding, not eating or has any vomiting I would recommend an emergency veterinarian today.
