Why did my cat die suddenly after mange treatment and breathing issues?

He may have had an injury, been hit by a car or he had a congenital heart defect that caused a blood clot at the bifurcation of the aorta (that paralyses hind legs and hurts terribly). This can also cause a clot in the lungs which would cause breathing problems. Unfortunately most cats with these blood clots die within a short time. I am so sorry for your loss. This is very sad.

First off, I'm so sorry Bones died! If he feel off the roof, he could have suffering internal injuries that he slowly succumbed to over time. He could have had head trauma from the fall. It's also very serious that he picked a scab off to the bone and exposed a nerve, and he could have developed a severe infection from that. Finally, it's very serious when cats don't eat, and if they go too long without food they will develop a fatty liver. A fatty liver is fatal without treatment, and if Bones went a week without eating, he could have died from a fatty liver. Unfortunately without seeing him in person, I can't say for certain what caused him to pass away, but please accept my condolences for your loss.

Hi there. There are many things that we cannot know without a full exam here. First I am very sorry to hear of the loss of your kitten. Secondly, yes-flea and tick medications can have adverse reactions in some of our patients, albeit somewhat rarely. If you have used a dog medication on your kitten or one too large, they can definitely cause seizures and death. Your kitten could also have had some underlying issues like congenital heart disease or congenital kidney disease that could have caused sudden, unexplained death. Sorry for the loss of your friend. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I am so sorry! Poor Munchie! Flusapex is lasix, which is a diuretic used for heart failure. If she was given 0.30 mls that is an appropriate dose. My assumption is that the Vet though Munchie was in heart failure. Trouble breathing is serious and the only thing I could think of that could have been done differently is that Munchie should have been admitted and hospitalized for oxygen therapy and monitoring. But if her heart failure was severe the outcome may still have been the same. Again I am very sorry for your loss, Munchie sounded like she was very sick! I hope this helps in some way.

I am very sorry to hear that. This could be either due to an acute cardiac problem or respiratory one, but it is likely that the lungs filled up with fluid. A post-mortem examination would help to shed some light on the underlying cause of it.

I am so very sorry that you lost your cats. Please accept my condolences for your loss. Without seeing them in person, I can't say what caused them to die, but it may have been something contagious. It could have been something like feline Panleukopenia, it's highly contagious. The other option is they all got into something toxic. Again, I'm sorry for your loss.

I'm sorry that your cat had such an awful passing. Unfortunately, without an exam it would be hard to say. If there was a large parasite load, dying parasites can block/obstruct the intestines, and some parasites such as heartworm can block arteries leading to death, but it would be hard to say if this or another issue was the cause of Bendingo's passing. If you do get another cat, making sure they are regularly dewormed and up to date on vaccines can help them stay healthy. Working with your vet and having regular exams done can also help check for any health issues that need treatment as well.
