My cat is stressed, scratching, and licking after fipronil. Help!

If he is having a localized reaction to the ingredients in the topical medication, then it's best to bathe him in an aloe based or oatmeal based shampoo from your local pet store at this point. You have stripped off as much product as you can with the Dawn. Also try applying a topical hot spot spray from your local pet store may help provide some topical relief. Hot spot sprays typically have a steroid in them, which is a good anti-inflammatory. Yes, I would wash her with soap to get the medication off her skin. She is more sensitive so I wouldn't use that again. I don't want her to continue to scratch and lick as she may make a skin sore. Poor guy. It sounds like he had a bad reaction to the Activyl. In cases of allergic reacitons you have to get him treated with a steroid shot +/- antihistamine shot to stop the reaction from continuing. Also you should wash the product off immediately to remove the stimulus. I would recommend bathing with a gentle dawn soap and then follow up with a cat friendly oatmeal based shampoo and a hot spot spray from your local pet store. Don’t put this spray on the face area and avoid the eyes. I am sorry your cat is having such a bad reaction. Hopefully this can help alleviate some of the irritation until his vet visit on Friday. This doesn’t sound life threatening, especially if he is otherwise eating, drinking and energy level is good. I do not know what brands of products you are using but it seems like she is having a toxicity reaction possibly from licking products off her body but could also be from the ivermectin injections. The dilated pupils are very concerning and one the first signs of a toxicity as well as hyper salivation. Full body mites at her age is not a normal thing we see here in the US so I am not sure the diagnosis is correct. I suggest you take her back to your vet or get a second opinion from another vet. I cannot really give you much direction as to where to go from here without knowing if she is having a toxicity reaction or not and why. There is not a blanket treatment for "mites" - it depends what type of mites they are (scabies vs demodex). Lime sulphur dips are not really used for this problem; it is really only used anymore in cases of full body ringworm.
