What if my cat was sprayed with rubbing alcohol? Is she safe?

If you did not see them drink the alcohol, it is very likely that the small amount that was covering the bottom of the cup just evaporated. Alcohol tends to evaporate quite quickly at room temperature. Alcohols, when ingested, can cause metabolic disturbances and neurological side effects. Your poor kitty! Yes, alcohol in the eye is dangerous because it can cause severe irritation, discharge, rubbing of the eye, which in turn can lead to a corneal ulcer. I would see if she will allow you to rinse her eye again with cool water, and keep close watch on her eye. If you see any redness, she starts rubbing at it, the eye appears swollen, or there is any discharge, take her into a vet right away. Hopefully, however, she didn't get any in her eye and she is fine. In the future, do not use alcohol on her scratches. Not only does it burn, but it can be harmful to her. In fact, we use rubbing alcohol directly on cats when we are drawing blood or something to help clean an incision site or minor wound. Likely nothing will happen if it was just a light spray. In general these products will cause irritation the to nasal passage way. If you have any concerns, I recommend to call the manufacturer of the perfume. They will be familiar with the safety studies and will be able to tell you if the ingredients have toxic risks. It's not toxic, but if he ingested some, then it can cause him to vomit or have diarrhea. It will also irritate Ringo's skin, so it's best to rinse him thoroughly with cool water for 15 minutes. If Boo ingested any through grooming I would expect stomach upset such as vomiting or diarrhea. If you wiped him down immediately and he is otherwise acting fine there is likely nothing to be worried about.
