My cat got sprayed with Lysol by accident. Is he safe? Should I worry?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! To be safe, bathe Sabbath in case bleach got on his fur. Since cats groom themselves we wouldn't want him to get bleach in his mouth. If he'll let you, try to rinse his mouth, but don't do it if he tries to bite. My hope is that he didn't lick any and none spilled on him. If he starts drooling, not eating or breathing fast take him to the Vet. I hope this helps! Good luck!

Yes, it is absolutely fine to continue using your normal household cleaners - Lysol included - as long as Frankie does not directly inhale or ingest any of these substances. Rinsing his litter box with dish soap after spraying with Lysol is also okay. :-)

It's not toxic, but if he ingested some, then it can cause him to vomit or have diarrhea. It will also irritate Ringo's skin, so it's best to rinse him thoroughly with cool water for 15 minutes. Repeat the rinse tomorrow. For now, only use water and not shampoo during the rinsing. I hope that helps and all is well with Ringo.

If you want to rinse her mouth out well with water as a precaution and wipe her paws well with water to prevent any more possible ingestion that isn't wrong. If she becomes lethargic, drools, won't eat or in anyway appears abnormal then bring her to the Vet. But based on your description I think she will be fine. Maybe have a discussion with your roommate about this so it won't happen again. I hope this helps!

I would keep a close eye on Axel because these sprays can be toxic to cats. You did the right thing by washing out his mouth right away, and hopefully he didn’t ingest enough to cause a problem. If he becomes anorexic, lethargic, starts vomiting, or has dark stools, take him into a vet right away. Hopefully, however, he will be fine.

Hello. If Mew is not having any digestive problems at this time, including no vomiting, diarrhea & he still has an appetite, he should be just fine. Washing him as soon as you discovered what happened was the best thing to do. Now, it is just a matter of making sure he continues to eat & drink. The ingredients can cause some irritation if swallowed, so offering things like broth & milk to drink plus warmed canned cat food is appropriate. I’d just watch her for now, and check her mouth to make sure there are no burns in it. If you see burns, take her into a vet immediately.
