Why does my cat shiver when I give him fluids via drip at home?

A small amount of bloody water is normal if you hit a small capillary vessel with your needle. A couple drops that stops with some pressure is totally normal and not concerning at all. Fluid therapy is frequently very helpful for extended both life quantity and quality in cats, so it's probably necessary but you can talk to your vet if you want to clarify that.

I'm a bit confused as to whether you are talking about a cat or a dog. The post states dog but for pet's info it says cat...... A dog that shakes while getting bathed is likely nervous or scared. It is not usually from being cold which is what most people think. Be sure to use warm water when bathing. Ignore the shivering. It is not anything to be worried about. Best wishes!

Baby should be fine from this. There will be no negative behaviors. Just give her the fluids at her next scheduled time. I would have a friend hold her while you do it, or you can wrap her in a towel like a burrito to help her stay still. Best of luck.

Binky may have just become overheated and/or uncomfortable when covered up and then, once uncovered, felt better. If these episodes continue, especially if there is no reason she would be overheated, then I would recommend taking her to the vet to be checked out so any underlying neurological issues can be ruled out. Unfortunately there's no way to know for sure. Is she showing any other symptoms? Is she still eating, is she moving around normally or does she seem painful, is she vomiting, having diarrhea, or having any coughing or sneezing? Shivering can occur due to being cold, or nauseous, or painful. All of these are possible causes. Make sure she's protected from cold and wind, and if she's not improving and you know she is not cold, take her to your vet for an exam. The hair on the tail and body (most commonly along the back) can stand up with any kind of stimulation. We most commonly see this in cats when they are fighting or playing and are very mentally stimulated, but it can also occur with other kinds of physical stimulation including some internal stimulation (which might be what happended when you gave him his fluids). I would suspect that the hair on the tail will go down relatively quickly. It may or may not occur when you give fluids again in the future. I hope that was helpful and answered your question.
