My cat is shaking, circling, and having accidents. Is it a seizure?

Poor Bady! She needs to see the veterinarian today as she is very sick. There are several different conditions that will look like this including diabetic ketoacidosis, cancer, stroke, hyperthyroidism, infection, severe kidney disease or electrolyte in balance. These conditions all require treatment and are best addressed early on for the best potential outcome. Hello, and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I’m sorry to hear about Topaz’s troubles! I’m concerned Topaz may not be seeing well or may have gone blind. There are certain conditions, such as retinal detachment, that can occur all of a sudden - so even though she was seen by a vet last month, I definitely recommend taking her in again now that there’s a new concern. The circling behavior could be because she’s trying to figure out her surroundings if she’s having trouble seeing, or could indicate a neurological problem. Definitely worth having a vet take a look to localize the issue. Hope this helps!

Precious needs to be examined by the veterinarian. There are many potential causes for seizures and the condition needs management with medications for the best results long term. Call your veterinarian today and they will need to check some blood work. Best of luck for little Precious.

It sounds like Lily is in critical condition! She may have seizures, a thrombus cutting off blood supply to her back legs, or she may have ingested a toxin. I would recommend seeing a veterinarian as soon as possible. There is nothing that you would be able to do at home to help her at this point, and I would be worried that she may not survive much longer from what you describe.

Hi, Sorry to hear about Jack, the episodes you describing with hypersalivation (increased salivation), shaking and urinating on himself which are happening more during the night can be seizures. I would strongly recommend to have him checked by a vet sooner than later as a frequency of few episodes in a few weeks is high and needs to be managed asap. It is always very helpful in diagnosis to have a video of the episode to show the vet so if you can do that in case another episode occurs before the vet appointment. Hope he will feel better soon.

This sounds like she may have some neurological problem, or possibly a metabolic or infectious condition. This may be an emergency, so please take her to a pet ER for an exam and possibly medical intervention today.

Andre May be having mild seizures. If the episodes occur more than once or twice a month, it would be best to schedule an appointment with your vet for an exam and screening bloodwork for Andre to possibly be started on anti-seizure meds. Definitely bring a video of one of the episodes to help your vet accurately diagnose the episodes. Bloodwork would let your vet know if there are underlying liver/kidney issues that may be causing the seizures and would provide a baseline for tracking the effects of possible seizure meds (some seizure meds can cause long term damage to the liver). If Andre is excessively aggressive, an injectable sedative combination such as midazolam/torbugessic that is generally safe in seizure patients may be used by your vet prior to examining him and taking blood.
