Will 3 days of secondhand smoke harm my cat in another room?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed | 2 years and 1 month old | 8 lbs

I have family members staying over for 3 days they smoke cigarettes. My cat will be in the other room. I want to know if these 3 days would be harmful with the cigarette smoke to her or harmful.

If Mika has asthma, bronchitis, or some other chronic respiratory condition, then this could be aggravated by exposure to the cigarette smoke. But if she's healthy with no pre-existing issues, I would not expect a few days of secondhand smoke exposure to cause any significant problems.
