Is it safe for my cat if I smoke weed, they eat it, or I burn incense?

To my knowledge there have yet to be any studies on the use of marajuana around cats. Cats however, have been affected by second hand smoke in the same ways that humans are. It is therefore not a good idea to smoke in the same room as a pet. It is a safer choice to smoke outside of the home or out of an open window.

Clinical signs of marijuana toxicosis in cats include drooling, increased locomotor activity (e.g. wandering aimlessly, spontaneous jumping behavior), sedation, depression, anxiety, head bobbing/weaving, swaying from side to side, disorientation, vocalization, agitation, aggression, drinking excessively, difficulty swallowing, sneezing, not eating, seizures, diarrhea, and vomiting. Please monitor her carefully for the next 12-24 hours. If you notice any severe symptoms you will need to take her to your veterinarian. I cannot say how long it will be in her system as I do not know how much she inhaled. My guess would be less than 12 hours for one episode of direct inhalation but each individual animal is different in how they react (just like humans). If Mika has asthma, bronchitis, or some other chronic respiratory condition, then this could be aggravated by exposure to the cigarette smoke. But if she's healthy with no pre-existing issues, I would not expect a few days of secondhand smoke exposure to cause any significant problems.

If all of the pets have parasites, respiratory infections, or ate cigarettes, it is best to seek veterinary care for them right away. They could be transferring the infections and parasites back and forth, and tobacco products can be toxic if ingested. They may also need additional care from your vet including antibiotics to treat the infection.

Lavender oil is listed as toxic to cats in most toxicology databases. Inhaling it may cause respiratory irritation. If enough is inhaled, it may cause serious toxicity. Given how dangerous it is, not having it in the house at all would be recommended.

Hello, thank you for using PetCoach. Mold can cause respiratory issues in cats long term however it is difficult to tell if it is effecting them until they start showing clinical signs. Depending on age and health condition, the signs could range from mild to severe. Some signs that cats may exhibit are as follows: Runny nose Itchy and runny eyes Skin infections Persistent scratching Coughs and wheezing sounds Nose/mouth bleeding Continuous mold exposure can cause seizures and tremors. Cats in particular will become agitated or anxious due to allergies. Both dogs and cats that have been exposed to mold are also known to shake their ears and heads. Some may also chew their paws, have chronic ear infections, foul odor of the skin and hair loss are other signs that may emerge after mold exposure. You may want to consider getting some HEPA filters in your home to help minimize exposure to both you and your cat. Unfortunately, second hand smoke is just as bad for cats as it is for humans. The good news is that many many pets and humans have lived with second hand smoke - it's far some ideal, but not a death sentence. It's helpful to take Noushmc to a different room while your father smokes and I would continue doing that. It would be ideal to set up an area where there is no cigarette smoke where Noushmc can live (or have your father smoke outside), but that's probably unrealistic. I would recommend letting your veterinarian know that she is exposed to second hand smoke if she ever needs treatment for a respiratory disease - it may not change anything, but it will be good for the veterinarian to know.
