My cat was recently neutered. Is a scratch near the surgery site okay?

I don't see any signs of infection, and while it appears a little bit of the incision is open (maybe the glue didn't stick correctly), it's doesn't appear deep or big enough to be concerning. Continue to monitor him.

The picture is difficult to make out, but it almost looks like a piece of body tissue hanging out. Was he recently neutered? If so I would recommend having a follow up appointment with your veterinarian to see if there is any infection or problem at the neuter site. Good luck and I hope he is back to normal soon.

This looks like a shaved area of fur where the IV would have been placed for the procedure. It's difficult to tell the position from the photo, but if this spot is near the crook of the elbow, then that is definitely what it is. Otherwise, the skin looks healthy and the area of hair loss is too neat to be due to any bad causes. I think you are fine to wait and see if it starts growing hair and doesn't have any signs of infection (flakey skin, redness, scabs, pus). If all looks OK, then the area should be back to normal is about 3-5 weeks. I hope that helps and all is well with Quavo..

Unfortunately your picture of Spec's wound is a little blurry, but it looks bigger than a simple scratch to me. It also looks quite red, and it appears that there may be some discharge coming from it. If this wound is on his surgical incision, I would be concerned especially if he was bitten. Cat bites typically become infected and abscess. Gently clean the area with warm water and antiseptic soap, and I would have this wound examined and treated by a vet today. Best of luck!

Hello. It is difficult to tell if the neuter incision is OK, but it does not look too bad to me. If you are concerned, definitely get with your vet soon. As for the ear, I have NEVER heard of a veterinary practice clipping a cat's ear to signify it has been neutered when it is a personally owned cat. In many communities, wild & feral cats that have no owners are trapped, neutered & the ear clipped to signify the surgery has been done. These cats are then released back into their pre-captured territories to live out their lives. I would find out if this is a normal procedure in your area & if not, I would definitely complain to the practice owner & possibly even to the your state veterinary board. I can understand a small tattoo mark to signify the surgery ( although it is pretty obvious in a male cat ), but this is totally uncalled for & I am so sorry this happened to your pet. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Zeno. It sound like you are doing everything right. It is best to keep him very quiet for the first 24-48 hours after surgery. Too much activity can lead to swelling at the surgery site. A small amount of oozing can be normal. If it continues or gets worse, then you need to alert your veterinarian.
