Why does my outdoor cat have red skin and no fur on her legs?

I would make sure the veterinarian scrapes the skin to check for parasites of the skin. This may also need an oral antibiotic in addition to topical therapy to see if it will respond. You can also try a different shampoo such as Douxo PS Chlorhexidine combination shampoo and bathe twice weekly. If there is no improvement and your vet is unable to resolve this, I would recommend a second opinion with a veterinary dermatologist if possible. I hope this helps! Smores seems like the area is bothering her. Many things can cause these bumps including allergies, external parasites or ringworm (which people can get). Make an appointment with her doctor to get her checked out. There are medications the doctor can give her to stop the itching as well as treat the underlying cause. If you have an elizabethan collar for her, go ahead and put it on her. The licking can make the lesions worse. Make sure that you are also using a reputable flea product. I recommend Revolution or Comfortis.

While it's impossible to know what he may have gotten into, overly pink skin with missing fur could be a result of a burn - either thermal or chemical. If it's possible to do so, try catching or trapping him to have the lesions examined. Skin can develop infection at the site of a burn wound. That said, we can't rule out other infectious causes of the hair loss, such as ringworm or mange from mites. If you are able to catch or trap him, consider having him neutered (if he isn't already) and vaccinated. Neutering is likely to decrease his aggression towards other cats in the neighborhood. This might be more than just an allergic reaction, it looks very severe, most probably infected as well. you must take your cat to the vet in order to get it treated ASAP, she will need an antibiotic injection and if an allergy is suspected as the cause then she will also probably need a steroid injection.

Hi, and thanks for your question. This presentation could be due to a trauma (bite wound, or a burn) or localized spot of skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria). A check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem. Disinfection may be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any licking (if any).
