My cat's leg skin allergy looks infected. Does she need a vet?

Even though the symptoms are resolving I would take her to the vet. That is a pretty significant reaction from what I can tell from the photo. Looks like possibly a contact allergy and often times the cat will need an anti-inflammatory and antibiotic injection to get this to clear up. This looks very inflamed indeed, probably infected as well. i would actually suspect a condition called Eosinophylic Granuloma that is quite common in cats and can look like this, if this is the case Boston will need steroid treatment for a few weeks and probably a course of antibiotic as well. i strongly advise that you take him to the vet ASAP in order to get treatment.

I am not sure what is the cause of this skin lesion but it looks very infected, you need to take her to the vet today in order to get it checked, she will need a course of antibiotics for that. because of her age it might be a good idea to have a blood test done just to make sure there isn't an internal disease in the background as well.

Poor girl! I cannot say for sure what caused these but it looks like she needs to be seen by your vet. This is most likely an infection, a parasite under the skin or a cancer. These conditions all need medical care. I recommend to have your kitty examined by the veterinarian for appropriate diagnosis and treatment. She will need antibiotics, the area cleaned, possibly pain medication, possibly antiparasitics and an elizabethan collar. The vet may also recommend additional treatment. This looks like a site of infection and possibly an abscess if the surrounding area is very swollen. It does sound like she is uncomfortable because of it. I would recommend taking Daisy in to see your vet because she may need antibiotics to help clear it up. It is most likely a skin infection or abscess but since it is centered around her joint there is concern that there could be infection in the joint as well.
