Hi my 6yr old cat has been experiencing hair loss on her hind leg. It started with a very small patch and now it became very big. Some ares have small red spots and others have small dark spots (like dry skin). The area feels warm to touch (maybe thats normal). She doesnt scratch it abnormally excessively or chew on it. We tried washing her with ketocanazole shampoo for 3 weeks but it kept getting worse. Please helps.

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. What you are describing could be a skin infection such as ringworm or a bacterial skin infection. I would recommend having this examined by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. The wounds that have shown up in that area could be from her scratching at the area if it is uncomfortable. She may need antifungal / antibacterial medications both oral and topical. Please let me now if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further.
