Why is my 3-month-old cat discharging pus after vaccination?

It does not look like post-injection reaction. I would rather suspect an insect bite, reaction to a tick, cat bite (if Ori goes out at all) or self-inflicted small wound from scratching the area. Please, keep an eye on it, small skin wounds often heal rapidly without treatment. If there is any discharge from the wound you can use 4% chlorhexidine skin solution to clean it. If it gets bigger or starts bothering Ori, take her to your local vets for a check.

Vaccines can certainly cause immunosuppression, but I do not believe that this is the direct cause of vaccination. Vaccine reactions almost always occur within minutes to hours after the shot is received. It is likely that your kitty has come down with an upper respiratory infection that will require treatment. Antibiotics, ophthalmic medication, and immunosupportive care will all be required. If she has a fever, she may also require some anti-inflammatory medication and fluids. It sounds like Coco is having a local vaccine reaction. You should contact your vet and see if they want to examine him or if they would be able to prescribe medications, and if they agree it’s a vaccine reaction they might recommend medication prior to vaccines in the future. I doubt it’s related to the trouble giving the vaccine - it’s pretty common for the needle to slip out when giving injections to wiggly dogs and cats.

Hello, sorry to hear about Toe. Occasionally with injections, they may develop inflammation and pain in the area for up to 3-5 days. If the swelling does not resolve then he should be seen by his veterinarian to ensure Toe is not having a reaction to the vaccine that would warrant further medical intervention. This could definitely be from a bite, or there could be another reason for the infection. It's best to get this seen by a veterinarian, because there could be something under the skin that will continually cause an infection is it's not removed. This doesn't appear to be an emergency, but it's best to have her seen in the next day or two. For now, you can try the following: 1) Clip the hair around the area and expose all of the sore skin. 2) Wash/spray the area with just warm, clean water (no soap or other antiseptics) for at least 5 minutes at a time. Poor Beans (cutest name BTW)! If this is where she received her vaccine, she could be having a local reaction to the vaccine. It could also be an infection under the skin or a bacterial or fungal infection on the skin. You could try giving her beandryl twice a day to see if it improves. See link below. Poor girl. Due to her age a mass here would be less likely as the cause for this hard lump. This may be an abscess or even a cyst. It is difficult to tell without feeling it in person, however, if it does not go down on its own within a few days to a week, then I would recommend having your vet check it out further. If it is an abscess, then cats typically will start to act ill (decreased appetite, low grade fever, lethargy) after a few days, in which case the abscess would need to be drained by your vet and then KitKat would need a short course of antibiotics to get things to heal well.
