My cat is 59 days pregnant. What to do before she gives birth?

Bella may have difficulty feeding the litter as she is still growing herself. Confirm that she is indeed pregnant first. Your veterinarian may be able to do this via palpation or abdominal x-ray. If it is early enough, consider having her spayed for her health and safety and to prevent unwanted or accidental litters in the future. If you decide to leave her intact, she will need to be monitored closely throughout the pregnancy, delivery and raising of the litter until weaning.

Hello. The average gestation is 63 days, but if all is OK in that Silvy is eating & acting fairly normal, then I would give her a few more days. It is possible that your dates may be off by a few days, or she bred on additional days. As long as there is no problems with her overall health, she will deliver when ready ( & she does look ready ). Any concerns, please see your veterinarian. Gestation is about 63-65 days, so you should be seeing signs of labor soon. If your timing is right, it should be any day now. You may be slightly off on your timing and maybe she has been pregnant for less time than you think? Look for signs of labor such as nesting behavior, vocalization, being more affectionate, licking the vulva and a change in appetite. Cats do not always give clear signs of labor like dogs so it can be tricky sometimes to notice when a cat is in labor. I hope this helps! Hello. Make sure your Momma cat has a quiet, safe & secure area to have her kittens, away from noise, other pets, & weather. You can begin feeding her a good kitten food ( dry or canned ) and continue the kitten food up until the kittens are weaned . This will give her extra calories to maintain her pregnancy & provide plenty of rich milk for her kittens. She will probably not leave her babies for the first couple of days, so make sure her litter box, food & water are close by. Unfortunately not. If you are sure about the days, I think it would be best to have her checked at your local veterinarian to see if the kittens are all vital and make sure there is no significant obstruction of the pelvic canal (by one of the puppies). Unfortunately there is not much you can effectively do back home to help. She does look quite full! She should be pregnant for 64 days and will start making milk after the kittens come. The only way to know for sure how many kittens are in there would be an x-ray at the vet. Good luck with the the babies!!
