My cat is pooping blood a few days after deworming. Is this normal?

I am sorry to hear about your kitty! With blood present I think it is time for a vet exam (and bring a stool sample along). We can have intestinal parasites that are not treated by dewormer (such as Coccidia and Giardia). We can also have things like colitis, inflammatory bowel disease, or food allergy cause these issues. The vet can examine your kitty and based on the exam and history make recommendations and possible test and treatment options.

It is normal to see some blood and diarrhea when giving worming treatment. These symptoms usually last for only two to three days. Because Gypsy is so young, it will take more than one treatment to kill all the worms. The treatment you gave now will kill the adults already in her system, and the next treatment will kill the ones who have yet to become adults. If the blood in the diarrhea persists longer than 3 days, I would take her into your vet, as there may be another cause for these symptoms.

If he is acting completely normal then I would actually recommend monitoring this for now. This could be an isolated incident where there was mild irritation of his intestines. If it repeats itself then most definitely get him checked out. But there is a chance that things will go back to normal on their own.

This can be a normal response to the deworming pill. I recommend giving a bland diet for a couple days such as boiled chicken, scrambled eggs, or low fat cottage cheese. If it continues after a couple days, or he stops eating/drinking, Meow should be seen by a veterinarian in the case he needs medical treatment/care.

You should feed Layla a bland diet over the next couple of days, for example Hill's I/D and things should settle quite rapidly. diarrhea after deworming can be normal, but usually for no more than a couple days. this is probably due to something else, either a virus, bacteria or something in the food he isn't copping with. i would recommend taking him to the vet in order to get it treated.
